Broadway stars recently came out in force to support OPERATION BACKPACK, a community service of Volunteers of America-Greater New York that, this year alone, will provide 18,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to homeless children living in New York City shelters. Scroll down for photos!

The cast of Broadway's Fiddler on the Roof, championed by Jessica Hecht, played their part and donated 30 backpacks, as well as $1,400 to support the effort.

Personal chef Lisa Adams, actress Paige Davis, and director/choreographer Christopher Windom also rolled up their sleeves and helped fill thousands of backpacks during the annual "Sort Week."

Over the past 12 years, OPERATION BACKPACK has provided more than 120,000 backpacks to homeless school children to prepare them for the first day of school. To donate, click here.
