On the morning on November 22nd, Tony Award-winner Beth Leavel - who plays the title character in the hit musical - woke up to light the new vintage neon marquee of the Marquis Theatre, where The Drowsy Chaperone continues its run.

The Drowsy Chaperone opened May 1, 2006 . "To chase his blues away, a modern day musical theatre addict known simply as "Man in Chair" drops the needle on his favorite LP – the 1928 musical comedy The Drowsy Chaperone. From the crackle of his hi-fi, the uproariously funny musical magically bursts to life on stage," state press notes. In addition to Leavel, The Drowsy Chaperone stars Bob Martin, Sutton Foster, Bob Martin, Danny Burstein (all of whom received Tony nominations for their performances), Georgia Engel, and Troy Britton Johnson, among others.

The Drowsy Chaperone features a Tony-winning book by Martin and Don McKellar and a Tony-winning score by Greg Morrison and Lisa Lambert.
