HAMILTON Original Broadway Cast: Where Are They Now?

The original cast of Hamilton will reunite at the 78th Annual Tony Awards to celebrate the show's tenth anniversary since its Broadway premiere in 2015.

As previously announced, members of the original cast of Hamilton will reunite at the 78th Annual Tony Awards to celebrate the show's tenth anniversary since its Broadway premiere in 2015.

Prior to Hamilton, many members of the cast already had established themselves, but their careers skyrocketed after starring in the show.

In honor of this milestone, and the upcoming Tony performance, we're looking back on the careers of the original cast of Hamilton, and checking out everything they have been up to since. While all members of the cast have gone on to do great things, here is just a recap of some of the performers who have taken the stage and screen by storm!


Lin-Manuel Miranda

Lin-Manuel Miranda, the show's creator and original star, has been hard at work since Hamilton. One may say the man is non-stop!

Notable projects include writing the music for Disney's Moana (2016) and Encanto (2021), both of which earned him Oscar nominations for Best Original Song. Miranda also co-wrote original songs for Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid (2023), and contributed music for Mufasa: The Lion King (2024).

Miranda's acting roles have included playing Jack in Mary Poppins Returns (2018), and making a cameo in the film version of In The Heights. On televsion, he appeared in His Dark Materials and Percy Jackson and the Olympians. He participated in voice acting, voicing characters on DuckTales, Bluey, and Vivo, and served as an executive producer on the series Fosse/Verdon (2019).

Miranda also hosted Saturday Night Live in 2016, and played himself in two episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm in 2017, receiving Emmy Award nominations for both appearances.

Most recently, Miranda, alongside Eisa Davis, created the musical concept album, Warriors. He also made a brief return to Broadway in the rotating cast of All In: Comedy About Love.


Leslie Odom Jr.

Since his role as Aaron Burr, Odom appeared in the Harriet Tubman biopic, Harriet (2019) alongside Cynthia Erivo. His other acting roles included Abbott Elementary (2022-23), The Many Saints of Newark (2021), Netflix's Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022), The Exorcist: Believer (2023), and One Night in Miami (2020), the latter of which earned him Oscar nominations for Best Supporting Actor and Best Original Song. 

Odom also took on voice acting, lending his voice to the animated series Central Park from 2020-22. 

In 2018, Odom released an autobiography, Failing Up. He also co-wrote the 2023 picture book I Love You More Than You’ll Ever Know with his wife, Nicolette Robinson. His music released include The Christmas Album (2020) and When a Crooner Dies (2023).

In the Broadway realm, Odom hosted the 2021 Tony Awards. He made his return to Broadway in Purlie Victorious (2023), earning a Tony nomination. He will return to the cast of Hamilton later this year, stepping back into the role of Aaron Burr from 12 weeks only, from September 9 - November 23.


Christopher Jackson

After his role of George Washington in Hamilton, Christopher Jackson worked with Miranda once again on Moana, lending his voice tot he role of Chief Tui. His other acting roles included Bull (2016-2022), When They See Us, And Just Like That... (2021), World's Best (2023) and Boundary Waters (2024).

Jackson also made an appearance in the 2021 film adaptation of In The Heights, a show in which he appeared in the original Broadway cast, this time as the Mr. Softee truck driver. 

He also made a guest appearance in various performances of Freestyle Love Supreme earlier this year at the Gramercy Theatre.

Jackson is currently making his return to Broadway in Hell's Kitchen, where he began peprformances on June 3.


Daveed Diggs

Following his performance as Thomas Jefferson in Hamilton, Daveed Diggs has taken on several acting roles, including The Get Down (2016-17), The Good Lord Bird (2020) and Snowpiercer. He also co-wrote, co-produced and starred in Blindspotting (2018), as well as the Starz spinoff series of the same name, which premiered in 2021.

Along with Odom, Diggs also lent his voice to Central Park, as well as  Soul (2020). He also provided the voice and vocals for Sebastian in Disney’s live-action The Little Mermaid (2023).

Up next, Diggs will appear in the fifth season of The Boys, and is set to headline the film Magic Hour. 

Diggs and his partner Emmy Raver-Lampman, who also appeared in the original cast of Hamilton, welcomed their first child in March 2024.


Phillipa Soo

On the heels of her Tony-nominated performance as Eliza Schuyler in Hamilton Phillipa Soo returned to Broadway several times, in Amélie in 2017, The Parisian Woman from 2017 to 2018, Into the Woods in 2022, and Camelot in 2023.

Her screen acting roles have included The Broken Hearts Gallery (2020), Over the Moon (2020), Dopesick (2021), and The Shining Girls (2022). Since 2024, Soo has had a recurring role on Doctor Odyssey.

Soo also lent her voice to Lin-Manuel Miranda's Warriors musical concept album in the role of Fox, which was released last year.

In 2017, Soo married stage and screen actor Steven Pasquale.


Renée Elise Goldsberry

Renée Elise Goldsberry’s acting career continued following her Tony-nominated role as Angelica Schuyler in Hamilton. He screen acting credits since then have included Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist (2020), She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022), Girls5eva (2021-2024), and Albany Road (2024). She also lent her voice to 49 episodes of Fast & Furious Spy Racers (2019-2021).

She returned to the stage in The Public Theater's The Tempest in 2023. Last year, she made her return to Broadway in All In: Comedy About Love.

Goldsberry released her debut album, Who I Really Am, on June 6, with the lead single being a reimagined version of "Satisfied" from Hamilton.


Anthony Ramos

After taking on the dual-role of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton, Ramos went on to continue a career in both acting and music. He released several albums, including The Freedom (2018), The Good & The Bad (2019), and Love and Lies (2021).

Ramos took on the role of Usnavi in the 2021 film adaptation of In The Heights. He also appeared in A Star Is Born (2018), Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (2023), Twisters (2024), Distant (2024), and was part of the voice cast for Trolls World Tour (2020). On TV, he appeared in She's Gotta Have It (2017-2019). 

Up next for Ramos will be playing  Parker Robbins/The Hood in Disney+’s Ironheart, and appearing in the upcoming Ryan Murphy drama series, The Beauty.


Jasmine Cephas Jones

Jasmine Cephas Jones took on the roles of Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds in Hamilton, and since then has continued to work in film and television.

Jones has appeared in Monsters and Men (2018), Mrs. Fletcher (2019), The Photograph (2020), and Origin (2023). Additionally, she appeared alongside Daveed Diggs in 2018's Blindspotting.

On stage, Jones took on the role of Roxanne in Cyrano Off-Broadway in 2019.

She took home a Creative Arts Emmy Award in 2020 for her role in #FreeRayshawn. She released her first album, Phoenix, in 2024. 

Jones also lent her voice to Lin-Manuel Miranda's Warriors musical concept album in the role of Swan, which was released last year.


Okieriete Onaodowan

Following his roles of Hercules Mulligan and James Madison in Hamilton, Okieriete Onaodowan returned to Broadway in 2017, playing Pierre in Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812. He then went on to appear in the 2023 revival of A Doll's House.

On screen, Onaodowan appeared for five season on the Grey's Anatomy spinoff series, Station 19 (2018-2021). He made several guest appearances on shows including Billions, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Law & Order, and Blue Bloods.  His film roles include A Quiet Place Part II (2020) and American Fiction (2023). He also appared in the music video for Matthew Santos’ “In My Breath" in 2022. He also lent his voice to the animated series Tuca & Bertie. 


Jonathan Groff

Since appearing as King George III in Hamilton, Jonathan Groff has gone on to expand his career on both stage and screen. Continuing his musical theatre career, Groff starred in the first podcast musical 36 Questions (2017). He then went on to lead the off-Broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors (2019-2020), for which he won an Outer Critics Circle Award. He also received a Lucille Lortel Award nomination and Drama League Award nomination for his performance.

Groff also appeared in the off-Broadway, and subsequent Broadway transfer, of Merrily We Roll Along, for which he received a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical. He is now  starring on Broadway in Just in Time, a musical about Bobby Darin, for which he received his fourth Tony Award nomination.

Groff reprised his role as Kristoff in the sequel film Frozen II (2019), as well as in the spinoff short Olaf's Frozen Adventure and the video game Kingdom Hearts III in 2019.  Groff also served as executive producer of the documentary, Spring Awakening: Those You've Known.

His screen roles also included Mindhunter (2017), for which he won a Satellite Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series. He also appeared in And Just Like That…, Life & Beth, and Doctor Who, among others, and lent his voice to the animated miniseries Lost Ollie (2022).


Ariana DeBose

Ariana DeBose is one star whose career skyrocketed following her appearance in Hamilton as "The Bullet." She went on to star in several Broadway shows, including A Bronx Tale (2017) and Summer: The Donna Summer Musical (2018), the latter of which earned her a Tony nomination. Continuing her musical career, she also appeared as Alyssa Greene in the film adaptaton of The Prom. 

Then, in her most notable role to date, she starred as Anita in the film adaptation of the musical West Side Story (2021). For this performance, she received multiple accolades, including a Golden Globe Award, a BAFTA Award, a Critics' Choice Movie Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Following her West Side Story success, DeBose went on to host the 75th Tony Awards. 

Her screen roles have included Blue Bloods, Seaside, Westworld, I.S.S., Argylle, Kraven the Hunter, Love Hurts, and more. DeBose also appeared in the parody musical comedy series Schmigadoon! (2021-23), and voiced the lead character of Asha in the 2023 Disney animated film Wish.


Ephraim Sykes

Ephraim Sykes appeared in the ensemble and played the role of George Eacker in Hamilton, before going on to make several Broadway apperances after.

In 2017, Sykes originated the role of David Ruffin in the musical Ain't Too Proud, for which he was nominated for a Tony Award. His next Broadway apperance was in the Broadway revival of Our Town in 2024. Off-Broadway and regionally, he has appeared in Pal Joey at New York City Center, Bye Bye Birdie at the Kennedy Center, and Guys and Dolls at the Ogunquit Playhouse.

In December 2016, Sykes played Seaweed J. Stubbs in NBC's live production of Hairspray Live!  His other screen appearances included Crisis in Six Scenes (2016), Detroit (2017), Russian Doll (2022), and Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur (2024).

Carleigh Bettiol

Carleigh went on to appear in Bandstand and The Cher Show on Broadway.

Andrew Chappelle

Andrew most recently appeared in & Juliet as Lord Capulet and the Shakespeare/Lance understudy and has made several television appearances, including Blindspotting and FabUless.

Alysha Deslorieux

Alysha went on to appear as the Timoune understudy in the 2017 revival of Once On This Island and made appearances in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Only Murders in the Building. 

Sydney James Harcourt

Sydney played Joe Scott in Girl From the North Country when it premiered off-Broadway at The Public Theater.

Neil Haskell

Neil is currently starring in Death Becomes Her on Broadway. He also appeared in Tuck Everlasting in 2016.

Sasha Hutchings

Sasha currently stars in Gypsy at the Majestic Theatre. Since Hamilton, she also appeared in My Fair Lady and Oklahoma! on Broadway.

Thayne Jasperson

Thayne is the only original cast member who is still in Hamilton. You can catch him today at the Richard Rodgers Theatre!

Stephanie Klemons

Stephanie is Hamilton's associate choreographer and currently teaches classes at Broadway Dance Center.

Morgan Marcell

Morgan went on to star in Bandstand and Moulin Rouge! on Broadway. She will next be seen in the upcoming revival of Ragtime.

Emmy Raver-Lampman

Emmy played 'Allison Hargreeves' in Netflix's The Umbrella Academy and voiced 'Molly Tillerman' in Apple TV+'s Central Park. She is partner to her Hamilton co-star Daveed Diggs. The couple has a son together.

Jon Rua

After Hamilton, Jon went on to appear in SpongeBob Square Pants on Broadway. Since then he has served as the associate choreographer for Boop! and did dance sequences for Floyd Collins. He is currently choreographing the Untitled Unauthorized Hunter S. Thompson Musical.

Austin Smith

Austin currently appears in the new Prime Video series The Better Sister. He has also appeared in Russian Doll, Kindred, and Random Acts of Flyness.

Seth Stewart

Seth appeared in the big screen adaptation of In the Heights. 

Betsy Struxness

Betsy recently released an album, titled "Physical Attention" and starred in the comedy short, A Guide To Not Dying Completely Alone.

Voltaire Wade-Greene 

Voltaire leant his voice to the big screen adaptation of In the Heights. He is the producer of the R&B/Jazz duo, Saffron Lips.
