CHELSEA CULTURAL PARTNERSHIP (founded by Dance Theater Workshop in association with The Joyce Theater and Atlantic Theater Company) is proud to announce FALL FOR CHELSEA, an unprecedented one-day-only community arts festival on Saturday, October 16th (10:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m.) celebrating the diverse cultural resources of Manhattan's most artistically flourishing sector. FALL FOR CHELSEA is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York City Department of Small Business Services and Independence Community Bank.

Executive-Produced by Donna Lieberman, FALL FOR CHELSEA was conceived by Dance Theatre Workshop executive director Marion Dienstag who affirms:

"Nationwide, the arts have long been the backbone of economic revival in evolving neighborhoods that are transformed into cultural destinations. In Manhattan, we have seen this time and again from SOHO to Times Square and now the former World Trade Center site. Chelsea's cultural riches are treasures that focus on this community as a leisure time magnet. By joining forces, we harnessed a collective energy that attracted many local businesses to broadcast the city's best kept secret: CHELSEA IS YOUR WAY TO SPEND THE DAY."

Mark Newhouse, Deputy Commissioner of NYC Dept of Small Business Services:

"Chelsea is one of New York City's most vibrant commercial and cultural districts. Promoting the cultural life of the neighborhood directly improves business for local merchants by drawing people to the neighborhood who then shop and dine there. Fall for Chelsea exposes people who may already be familiar with Chelsea to some of its other offerings, encouraging them to come back, visit and shop even more frequently."

Thirteen cultural institutions, featuring Dance Theater Workshop, Atlantic Theater Company, Chelsea Art Museum, International Print Center NY, The Kitchen, Rubin Museum of Art and twenty-five neighborhood retailers, restaurants and art galleries offer the eclectic and diversified artistic palate that has come to define Chelsea as a thriving and exhilarating destination for both New Yorkers and visitors alike.

Beginning Saturday, October 2nd, for only FIVE DOLLARS, FALL FOR CHELSEA buttons will be available at Dance Theater Workshop, The Joyce Theater and Atlantic Theater Company and will be redeemable for discounts at participating establishments on Saturday, October 16th. FALL FOR CHELSEA patrons are entitled to discounts at a wealth of neighborhood theaters, museums, restaurants, shops and art galleries. A map of participating attractions will be available with purchase. Patrons will also have an opportunity to win a variety of prizes in the FALL FOR CHELSEA raffle.

On Saturday, October 16th, buttons will also be available at Chelsea Market (75 Ninth Avenue btwn. 15th and 16th), the 620 6th Avenue retail atrium (home of Bed, Bath & Beyond and TJ MAXX) and participating cultural institutions. Discounts applicable on Saturday, October 16th only.

While branding Chelsea as the cultural and entertainment hotspot it has evolved into over the last decade, FALL FOR CHELSEA will simultaneously enhance small business and increase visitor attendance and the expenditure of discretionary income. This collaborative community celebratory event is the template for future marketing and promotional opportunities within the historic neighborhood known for its myriad arts organizations, galleries, restaurants and retail shops.
