BWW Exclusive: Listen Up! Sweeney's Felciano's Parodies

Manoel Felciano, currently in Sweeney Todd as Tobias, recently wrote two parodies which he performed at Purim Benefits last month...and BroadwayWorld.com's got them!

The first parody is a retelling of the purim story set to the tune "Heaven On Their Minds" from Jesus Christ Superstar which Manoel told BroadwayWorld, "this was fun as I have always taken pride in being an honorary member of the tribe." (For the story of the holiday of Purim, click here)

The second is a parody of "No One's Gonna Harm You" from Sweeney Todd. "I've always eaten meat and fish, but recently I was convinced to try being a vegetarian. So I was in a restaurant and I was really tempted by this Salmon dish on the menu, and as the waiter waited for me to make a decision, I fell into a reverie, imagining the fate of this poor salmon, and this is what I sang..."

So without further ado, here are the lyrics as penned by the uber talented, Mr. Felciano...Enjoy!

And believe me, my affection for you hasn't died.

Gets twisted 'round some other way.
And they'll hurt you if they find you've lied.

Israel, your famous girl should have stayed a great unknown
Like her father carving wood she'd have made good.
Tables, chairs, and oaken chests would have suited Esther best.
She'd have caused nobody harm; no one alarm.

Listen, esther do you care for your race?
We will be gone so with nary a trace?
We are prisoner; have you forgotten how put down we are?

I am frightened by this Haman
And we must get back to Canaan
And they'll crush us if we go too far. If they go too far....

Haman's minions will smash us flat.
And it's sad to see our chances weakening with every hour
All your Jews are in a bind
Too much Haman on their mind
