Legally Blonde The Musical, after playing almost 1000 performances, will close at the Savoy Theatre tonight, Saturday 7 April 2012.

The production, now in its third year, has transformed the Savoy Theatre into a pink haven for Elle and her sorority girlfriends. Legally Blonde The Musical opened in December 2009 to rave reviews and the show went on to win seven theatre awards including the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Musical. Legally Blonde The Musical continues its tour of the UK and plans are in place for an Australian production to open in Sydney later this year.

With West End audience numbers of over three quarters of a million to date, Legally Blonde The Musical premiered with Sheridan Smith playing the role of college sweetheart Elle Woods. Smith went on to win the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical.

Carley Stenson who took over the role of Elle in July 2011 continues until tonight's final performance. Stephen Ashfield plays Emmett, Ben Freeman plays Warner and Peter Davison plays Professor Callahan, a role he has played since the show's premiere.

College sweetheart and homecoming queen Elle Woods doesn't take no for an answer. So when her boyfriend Warner dumps her for someone serious, Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books, and heads for Harvard Law! Along the way, Elle proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style.

Directed and choreographed by Tony Award winning Jerry Mitchell, Legally Blonde The Musical has music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin, book by Heather Hach, set design by David Rockwell, costume design by Gregg Barnes, lighting design by Kenneth Posner and Paul Miller, sound design by ACME Sound Partners and orchestrations by Christopher Jahnke.

Legally Blonde The Musical is produced in the West End by Sonia Friedman Productions, Robert G. Bartner, Ambassador Theatre Group, Bud Martin, Adam Zotovich, Jamie Hendry Productions, Matthew Byam Shaw and ACT Productions.
