DANCERS LOVE DOGS takes place this year on Saturday 4 October at 8pm at the Artscape Opera House, presented by Brigitte Reeve-Taylor and performed by top dancers and entertainers volunteering their time and talent to raise funds for animal sterilisation in the Western Cape.
We often read about how one random act of kindness can change lives. Brigitte Reeve-Taylor not only performed such an act, but also went on to bring together dancers to create an annual show that raises funds to sterilise animals. Since 2012, this not-for-profit organisation has raised R850 000 and sterilised 5000 animals. The journey began when Reeve-Taylor rescued a puppy from alongside a busy highway and discovered, on her journey to find help for the pup, the miserable existence that countless homeless animals endure in Cape Town and its surrounding communities. Sterilsation can, over time, make an enormous difference in reducing the numbers of strays and unwanted dogs and cats on our streets. The money raised by DANCERS LOVE DOGS also financially assists owners who find the cost of sterilisation too high. The entertainment for DANCERS LOVE DOGS 2014 is exciting and participating artists are from Cape Town City Ballet, Cape Junior Ballet, Bovim Ballet, BRDC, New World Dance Theatre, Ashley and Bradley Searle of BIG BOYS 2, the Waterfront Theatre Company, Adele Blank and the Zip Zap Circus, Stellenbosch Dance Academy, Scad, XDC, Darren Greeff, Rudi Smit, Basic Black Crew, Genine Shuttleworth with her gorgeous pug Gordon, and Ilanka and her amazing dog Luke. There will be a special appearance by 25 guide dogs and their owners from the Guide Dog Association.Videos
