The Hub's BARK WEEK to Kick Off 8/17

Fresh off the biting adventures of Discovery's 'Shark Week' comes the Hub Network's celebration of a furrier creature - dogs. Starting Sunday, August 17 to Friday, August 22, the Network is bringing everyone's favorite family member and best friend to its air with 'Bark Week,' a special week full of fun canine programming for dog-lovers of all ages to enjoy. The tail-wagging week will feature four popular series from Animal Planet, a sister network also owned by Discovery, called 'America's Cutest,' 'It's Me or the Dog,' 'Bad Dog!' and 'Too Cute!' airing for the first time on the Hub Network, champions of family fun and the only network dedicated to providing kids and their families with entertainment they can watch together. WICKED Shifts Morrison Center into Top 50 Theatre Venues for Worldwide Ticket Sales

The Velma V. Morrison Center for the Performing Arts was listed as one of the top 50 theatre venues for worldwide ticket sales in Pollstar's mid-year report. Pollstar is the only trade publication covering the worldwide concert industry, providing in-depth information to entertainment professionals for more than 25 years. The Morrison Center was listed 44th with 69,248 tickets reported for the period of 1/1/14 to 6/30/14. Ticket figures include selected national presentations reportable to Pollstar and not all events ticketed during that period. (more...)

Local artists are invited to submit their best, original artwork showcasing a vivid vision of the 2014/2015 Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Atlanta Series and the city of Atlanta! One talented artist can have their work selected to represent the upcoming series, which will feature Atlanta premieres of Disney's NEWSIES, PIPPIN, MOTOWN THE MUSICAL, DIRTY DANCING and Disney's THE LITTLE MERMAID as well the spectacular new production of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. Miami Actor Matthew Glass Performs Assurbanipal Babilla's SOMETHING SOMETHING UBER ALLES, 10/26

A dark comedy about a present-day Hitler lookalike who is abducted by two gay pastry chefs. Soon, they make him the idol of a Hitler-worshipping cult in a cathedral below the Queens-bound F Train. Playwright Assurbanipal Babilla was forced to flee Iran overnight because of a death warrant due to his controversial writing. In 2006, he was awarded a Hellman/Hammett grant in recognition of his courage in the face of political persecution. Assurbanipal Babilla (Bani) passed away in New York on March 30, 2011 during our previous NYC run at the Brick Theatre's Iranian Theatre Festival.. He dedicated his body to the Westchester Medical Center. The play was originally produced by David Cote with the Author starring in 1998. (more...)

Kaufman's Pulitzer Prize-winning play You Can't Take It With You announce more cast members for the production which begins rehearsals on Monday, July 21st. The cast will include: Will Brill (Act One) as Ed Carmichael, Fran Kranz (Death of a Salesman) as Tony Kirby, Johanna Day (August: Osage County) as Mrs. Kirby, Nick Corley (The Mystery of Edwin Drood), Austin Durant (War Horse) and Joe Tapper (Witnessed By The World, 59 E 59) as the three G-Men as well as Barrett Doss, Ned Noyes, Pippa Pearthree as understudies. For our 48th Kritzerland show we're proud to present a salute to some incredible female lyricists of the musical theatre, mostly Carolyn Leigh, the brilliant lyricist of such Broadway shows as Little Me, Wildcat, Peter Pan and others, as well as such classic pop songs as 'Witchcraft' and 'The Best Is Yet to Come,' as well as other great female lyricists like Lynn Ahrens (Once on this Island, Ragtime, Seussical), Carol Hall (The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas), Marsha Norman (The Secret Garden), Gretchen Cryer (I'm Getting My Act Together and Taking it on the Road), Fran Landesman (The Nervous Set, 'Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most'), Amanda McBroom ('The Rose', Heartbeats) and Carole Bayer Sager (They're Playing Our Song). Kritzerland's Bruce Kimmel has recorded many of the lyricists above and has chosen the usual Kritzerland colorful and eclectic program, a mix of the well- known and the unknown.
