This hilarious farce is set in a gay bathhouse of the title. When Gaetano Proclo, a hapless, middle-aged, overweight, very married man takes it on the lam from his Mafioso brother-in-law, Carmine Vespucci, he ducks into ďThe RitzĒ, the last place anyone would look for him, not knowing what he has thrust himself into. What he encounters there sets the scene for an old-fashioned door-slamming farce, albeit with towel-clad chubby chasers, bumbling detectives, and Googie Gomez, an over-the-top would be Bette Midler looking for her big break...Funny!!!!!

BWW Review: Theatre UCF's YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN Shatters Lofty Expectations
by Matt Tamanini - Oct 26, 2016

Last week, I wrote an article looking at why Central Florida's collegiate theatre programs, and in particular Theatre UCF, consistently produce content at or above the level of local professional theatres. The next night I went to see UCF's production of Mel Brooks' YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, the musical adaptation of one my favorite films. So, needless to say, as I walked into the theater, my expectations were already exceptionally high. Fortunately for me, and everyone else at the sold-out performance, this incredibly talented cast not only met those expectations, but shattered them. (more...)

BWW Review: CFTA's YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN Will Have You Laughing All The Way Home
by Jeffrey Ellis - Oct 25, 2016

Patrick Kramer's commanding performance as Frederick Frankenstein (that's 'FRONKENsteen' for the uninitiated) in the Center for the Arts' production of Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein is reason enough to buy a ticket (if you're lucky enough to score one - shows are playing to capacity crowds in Murfreesboro, so make your reservations yesterday), but director Renee Robinson and musical director Stephen Burnette very adroitly surround him with such strong support that the entire ensemble of Transylvanian thespians is worth the price of admission. This season Milwaukee Repertory Theater's Stackner Cabaret warms the holidays with the Great American Songbook: A tribute to the incomparable composer Irving Berlin in the musical revue I Love A Piano. When an old forlorn piano with one broken note magically reveals the instrument's history during the performance, Berlin's lyrics and melodies that defined the country's multiple generations play on. In this mesmerizing production filled with more than 50 Berlin songs, the cabaret regales America's 1910's to post World War II eras that stirs memories in the audience's heart and soul.
