This hilarious farce is set in a gay bathhouse of the title. When Gaetano Proclo, a hapless, middle-aged, overweight, very married man takes it on the lam from his Mafioso brother-in-law, Carmine Vespucci, he ducks into “The Ritz”, the last place anyone would look for him, not knowing what he has thrust himself into. What he encounters there sets the scene for an old-fashioned door-slamming farce, albeit with towel-clad chubby chasers, bumbling detectives, and Googie Gomez, an over-the-top would be Bette Midler looking for her big break...Funny!!!!!

BWW Reviews: Peter Quilter's GLORIOUS! Comes to ICTBWW Reviews: Peter Quilter's GLORIOUS! Comes to ICT
by Don Grigware - Oct 20, 2014

At least four plays have been written about Florence Foster Jenkins, who in the 30s and 40s, in spite of being considered the worst singer ever, recorded and gave highly publicized annual SRO concerts including one in 1944 at... Carnegie Hall. A rank amateur, Jenkins had no pitch, tone or rhythm and decimated just about every note and lyric in every score she put her voice to. BUT, she had a dream and she loved music with a passion. In her head and heart, she sounded like one of the most gorgeous sopranos that ever graced a stage. Maybe she really knew she was tone deaf and couldn't hit the mark... or maybe she didn't. If we cannot get our hands on one of her recordings, we can only estimate the truth of the matter by what we read or see in the various plays about her life. (more...)

BWW Reviews: One Final Weekend to See the Salty, Sassy Princesses of the Hilarious Musical Satire DISENCHANTEDBWW Reviews: One Final Weekend to See the Salty, Sassy Princesses of the Hilarious Musical Satire DISENCHANTED
by Jill Schafer - Nov 19, 2014

The princesses of DISENCHANTED will cast their spell on you in a whole different way than their Disney predecessors. While Disney portrays such fairy tale princesses and historical figures as Snow White, the Little Mermaid, and Pocahontas as sweet, mild-mannered, passive ladies waiting for a prince to come along and save them, the salty, sassy princess of DISENCHANTED are smart, strong, and unwilling to put up with crap from anyone! This new musical comedy by Dennis C. Giancino is currently in its second production here in the Twin Cities. Casting Spells Productions has brought back three of the princesses from last year's fantastic production at The Ritz Theater, added a few new and equally fabulous princesses, spiffed up the costumes, and included a few tweaks by the creator. It's still a super fun show for anyone who loves and/or hates Disney princesses. These are the kind of princesses little (and not so little) girls should emulate! (more...)
