Casting and Cameo Groups Announced for Free Public Works' Musical Adaptation of THE WINTER'S TALE

Following last year's acclaimed Public Works production of The Tempest, The Public Theater will continue this community-based initiative this September with a free original musical adaptation of Shakespeare's THE WINTER'S TALE. Featuring more than 200 New Yorkers from all five boroughs performing alongside professional actors and The Public's community partners, Public Works' THE WINTER'S TALE will run for three nights only, September 5-7, at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Free tickets will be distributed, two per person, at 12:00 p.m. on the day of the show at the Delacorte Theater and via the Virtual Ticketing lottery at www.publictheater.org. (more...)

On Monday, July 28 at 8PM Musical Theatre Factory (MTF) will present an acoustic concert of songs from Peter Lerman's new musical play, THE SACRED HARP, about the nephew of a preacher who tries to break free from his Appalachian confines by building an enchanted guitar. The concert, directed by Austin Regan features Van Hughes (American Idiot, 9 to 5, Hairspray) and Christy Altomare (Mamma Mia!, Carrie: the Musical), as well as a full chorus performing traditional Sacred Harp hymns. Following medical advice Hahn very much regrets that she must withdraw from her professional engagements for the next six weeks due to an inflamed muscle. Seattle Musical Theatre Joins Solid Ground and Theater of Possibility for New Youth Program

Seattle Musical Theatre has teamed up with local organizations Solid Ground and Theater of Possibility to create a brand new Summer youth theater program for kids and tweens living in Solid Ground housing at Magnuson Park. After a six week program with professional teaching artists, the students are presenting a showcase of interactive theater games and improvisation exercises to be shared with family and friends in the audience. Screenwriter Dean Ward (currently a writer on Chelsea Handler's latenight talk show 'Chelsea Lately') idolized Gene Kelly as a kid and even learned to tap dance, eventually taking lessons from legendary hoofers including Gregory Hines, Savion Glover and Charles 'Honi' Coles. Now he is teaming with choreographer Michael Rooney ('500 Days of Summer,' 'The Muppets') to produce an original film musical in the style and tradition of MGM's legendary Freed Unit, named for unparalleled movie musical producer Arthur Freed ('Singin' In The Rain,' 'The Bandwagon,' 'An American In Paris'). Anchor Bay Entertainment has partnered with AMC and Republic Records to offer The Walking Dead fans an exclusive soundtrack with the release of The Walking Dead: The Complete Fourth Season on Blu-ray and DVD. The soundtrack and Blu-ray/DVD sets will be made available only through Walmart. In addition, attendees at Comic-Con International 2014 can preorder the set with the “Rick Grimes Sherriff's Badge” Comic-Con collectible at the Anchor Bay Entertainment booth (#4037).
