Throes Theater has announced New York premiere of MIKE, written and directed by Alexandra Zelman-Doring. MIKE begins performances on Tuesday, June 23 for a limited engagement through Sunday, June 28. The second Teens Take the Met!, a museum-wide creative explosion of activities for teens, will be hosted by The Metropolitan Museum of Art on Friday, June 5, 5:00-8:00 p.m.  More than 40 cultural organizations from throughout New York's five boroughs have teamed up to provide teens with an interactive taste of what they can do across the city at organizations large and small. The program includes workshops and hand-on activities in the visual arts, music, theatre, and dance, culminating with a dance party. Today in 1959, Gypsy opened at the Broadway Theatre, where it ran for 702 performances. Gypsy is a musical with music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and a book by Arthur Laurents. It follows the dreams and efforts of Rose to raise two daughters to perform onstage and casts an affectionate eye on the hardships of show business life.
