The Los Angeles Philharmonic and L.A. Dance Project will present Benjamin Millepied's original choreography at the Hollywood Bowl on Tuesday, July 16, 2019. They will perform selections from Sergei Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet, conducted by Gustavo Dudamel, in an experimental production that seamlessly fuses stage and screen, centering audiences within the intimate encounters of the tragic love story. Onstage dance, pre-recorded film, and a live video feed from the Bowl's offstage spaces will be arranged into one dynamic, unstable performance, bringing the star-crossed lovers to life today. A choreography for both bodies and camera, Millepied's Romeo and Juliet will use the entire theater to echo the turmoil of devotion and heartbreak in this classic tale. The evening will be a sensory celebration of love immortal.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association today announced a new exhibition at the Hollywood Bowl Museum, Tapes Rolling: David Swedlow Records the Hollywood Bowl, 1954-1959. Launching June 15 in conjunction with the opening of the 2019 summer season and the continuing Centennial celebrations of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the exhibit showcases recordings of the orchestra made by David Swedlow. It will be on view through the spring of 2020.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association announced today that legendary hip-hop crew The Roots will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their groundbreaking album Things Fall Apart, by performing the album in its entirety, one night only, Wednesday, August 28, at 8 PM, at the iconic Hollywood Bowl. Irish Repertory Theatre (Charlotte Moore, Artistic Director and Ciar n O'Reilly, Producing Director) announced today special events and programming for the month of May as part of The Sean O'Casey Season, celebrating 30 years of Irish Repertory Theatre. May's events will include a screening of the biographical film Under the Colored Cap by Sean O'Casey's daughter, Shivaun O'Casey; an original concert of songs from O'Casey's plays; and two free scholar-led panels about O'Casey's life that will be livestreamed on Facebook.

Performances were held in New York at the Westside Theatre on Monday, March 11. and then two days later at Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope on Wednesday, March 13. The reading was the first of three benefit readings that mark the Playhouse's 80th anniversary.

The Cleveland Orchestra and Music Director Franz Welser-M st announced details of their 2019-2020 season which encompasses 76 concerts over 26 weeks. One significant highlight includes a festival designed to explore music and art that was banned, marginalized, and destroyed during the Nazi's Degenerate Art movement, and the continuing impact of censorship on creative expression in society today. The festival will center on Alban Berg's Lulu, one of the 20th century's most influential operas, and includes partner programming with the area's notable arts institutions.

A Blank stage is set to adorn a combination of a house on one side and what will soon become the work stations of the women in this production. On the projection behind the set were words written to strike a chord with incoming audience members, "If one woman were to tell the truth about her life, the world would split open." These wise words from Muriel Rukyster were the only thing standing between the audience and the works to be portrayed on the stage this night. In the program, Founder and Director Fran Powers wrote, "Directing These Shining Lives has been a project of the heart. "It is vitally important to keep honoring courageous women who sacrificed so much for others." This is the foundation of the Powerstories Theatre mission."With that the scene is set and a whirlwind 90 minutes set to no intermission was about to unfold in front of us.
