Review: LA BOHEME at Opera Theatre Of Saint Louis
Opera: Steve Callahan on June 03, 2024 You'll fall in love with Puccini yet again. Opera Theatre of St. Louis continues their forty-ninth season with a superb production of Puccini’s masterpiece, La Bohème—his most beloved work. The occasional sprinkle of very light rain seemed to refresh rather than deter those dining on the lovely grounds. Again the theatre was packed to the rafters with eager opera lovers. They were not disappointed.

Review: TampaRep's NEXT TO NORMAL is a Theatrical Triumph at USF Theatre
Tampa/St. Petersburg: Deborah Bostock-Kelley on June 03, 2024 TampaRep's NEXT TO NORMAL was, in one word, perfection. Expertly directed by Emilia Sargent, it was a theatrical triumph. The proof was that I could look across the stage and see patrons wiping their eyes and hear the quiet sniffling behind me. The intimate performance on Saturday night was a masterful blend of raw emotion, superb acting, and technical brilliance, leaving us spellbound.
Review: JOHNNY SKEEKY; OR, THE REMEDY FOR EVERYTHING at Theater Latté Da
Minneapolis / St. Paul: Joe Sarafolean on June 03, 2024 The high seas are calling you aboard a luxury yacht anchored off the coast of Florida. Although the interiors may be charming and welcoming, the vicious cast of characters may not be.
Review: OAK at Urbanite Theatre
Sarasota: Shanti M. Kennedy on June 03, 2024 Making its World Premiere, OAK is presented at our own Urbanite Theater. When entering the black-box space random hip-hop music is playing, but on closer observance, everything is placed with intention. The mix of music used throughout the story, from old TLC through Tyla’s current Billboard hit Water, made it hard to place what time this story is set, the 90’s, 2020’s? The elusiveness of this is effective, as this could be any southern town, even today. Playwright Terry Guest, a 3-time Jeff Award winner, expands his talents with this Southern Gothic Horror that was commissioned by Urbanite Theatre in 2020 and was created and designed specifically with the Sarasota audience in mind.

Review: DOUBT: A PARABLE at Altarena Playhouse
San Francisco / Bay Area: Kelly Rogers Flynt on June 03, 2024 One thing is for sure, Altarena Playhouse has a hit on its hands with DOUBT. Thoughtful, engaging, and provocative, the show is a masterpiece of details. In a world where some things should be black and white, DOUBT plants the tiniest seed of uncertainty that grows to envelope the entire story. You’ll change your mind, and change your mind again as the show will leave you ever dubious and always with a margin of DOUBT.
Review: EVERYONE'S TALKING ABOUT JAMIE at Ray Of Light Theatre
San Francisco / Bay Area: Steve Murray on June 03, 2024 Who doesn’t like a good coming of age story, better yet a LGBTQ coming out story to boot? Mix a catchy pop/rock score, a delightfully innocent 16-year-old schoolboy, and some fabulous drag, and you have the makings of a hit show tailor-made for San Francisco’s audiences. Based on a true story and the 2011 documentary Jamie: Drag Queen at 16, this fictional musical follows Jaime New as he battles homophobia and prejudice to self-actualize into a fierce drag queen.
Review: THE WOMAN IN BLACK at His Majesty's Theatre
Australia - Perth: David Bravos on June 02, 2024 THE WOMAN IN BLACK is a minimalist play, with one foreground for the entirety and just two actors. However, the way it is able to build and maintain tension and fear in a way that few movies manage these days, let alone stage shows. The plot is good and the acting is superb, and combined with this thriller is put together make this a must see.
