This December will see more great stage performances broadcast to the big screen of The Ridgefield Playhouse.

The Met: Live in HD, the Metropolitan Opera's award-winning series of live high-definition cinema simulcasts, will begin its 16th season with the company premiere of Cherubini's Medea on Saturday, October 22, at 12:55 pm ET.

The Warner Theatre has announced a series of lectures which will be presented before The Met: Live in HD Opera simulcasts. Lectures are complimentary with a Met Opera ticket purchase.

The Warner Theatre has announced the 2022-2023 season of The Met: Live in HD, featuring ten Saturday matinee simulcasts streaming live from The Metropolitan Opera House in New York City.  

The Greek National Opera (GNO) will present a revival of its 2012 production of Charles Gounod’s Faust with eight performances April 6 through 17. The production, which premiered in 2012 at Megaron–The Athens Concert Hall, will be presented at the Stavros Niarchos Hall for the first time, conducted by Pierre Dumoussaud and directed by Renato Zanella. 

The Metropolitan Opera today announced its 2022–23 season, which features seven new productions, the most in ten seasons. Opening Night is September 27 with the company premiere of Cherubini’s Medea, starring soprano Sondra Radvanovsky in the title role alongside tenor Matthew Polenzani in David McVicar’s new staging, conducted by Carlo Rizzi.

The Greek National Opera will open 2022 with four performances of Umberto Giordano's Andrea Chénier  from January 29 to February 13 in Stavros Niarchos Hall at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center.

Oper Frankfurt has announced cast changes for its upcoming production of Umberto Giordano’s Fedora. Soprano Nadja Stefanoff will take over the title role on April 3, 8, 10, 16, 18, 21, 23, and 28, 2022, replacing Olesya Golovneva. Asmik Grigorian will perform the title role on May 6 & 14, 2022.

On the Los Angeles Opera website, Igor Stravinsky’s Oedipus Rex is available to stream now thru July 18th. Stravinsky based his opera Oedipus Rex on the ancient Greek tragedy by Sophocles. Oedipus Rex, is staged with minimal movement, which works well with COVID restrictions. A narrator describes the action in English.

The new Hungarian State Opera production of Andrea Chénier, the masterpiece by Umberto Giordano is available to view on OperaVision between 2 July 2021 (from 7:00 p.m. CET) and 2 January 2022.
