Thoughts of a Colored Man, the new play by Keenan Scott II will play Broadway’s Golden Theatre. Signaling a genuine moment of optimism about the future return of theater to New York City, this morning, the marquee for Thoughts of a Colored Man was installed at the Golden Theatre making it the first new show to take up residence at a Broadway theater since the pandemic forced all plays and musicals to stop performances on March 12, 2020.

Today, producers Brian Moreland, Ron Simons, Diana DiMenna, Samira Wiley, and Sheryl Lee Ralph, announced that Thoughts of a Colored Man, the new play by Keenan Scott II, directed by Steve H. Broadnax III, will open on Broadway in the upcoming season at a Shubert theater to be announced.

Lloyd Suh Named 2020 Recipient Of The Horton Foote Prize

Baltimore Center Stage announced today The 19th: Whose Vote Is It Anyway?, a virtual event taking place at 7pm on Monday, August 17th, the eve of the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment. Widely acknowledged as the amendment granting women the right to vote, this event will call attention to the fact that only white women were truly granted suffrage on August 18th, 1920. Featuring musical performances, poetry, theater, and more, this event will both celebrate and interrogate the 19th amendment and what it means for human rights and women, nationwide.
