Award-winning Theatre Aspen opens the final show of the theatre's summer repertory season on July 24th, with the regional premiere of the brand new comedy The Cottage, by Sandy Rustin, running in rep with The Full Monty and Little Women. The playwright has been in residence to work on the show before the opening performance, with a cast of Broadway veterans including Nancy Anderson, Michele Ragusa, Mark Price, Michael Kostroff, Bailey Frankenberg and Spencer Plachy. Theatre Aspen Expands Food Service at the Hurst; Hosts BeerCRUSH at 8/1 Performance of THE FULL MONTY

Theatre Aspen announces expanded lobby hours as well as exciting food offerings at the Hurst Theatre. Located in the beautiful setting of the John Denver Sanctuary in Rio Grande Park, Theatre Aspen's concession area is now open throughout the day offering gourmet, pre-packaged items daily (closed Sundays). In partnership with local chef Mawa McQueen, of Mawa's Kitchen, visitors can enjoy healthy snack boxes in the theatre's open air lobby or picnic outside in and around the Rio Grande Park. Food items include charcuterie platters, salads, a Mediterranean sampler and other small meals. Mawa's Kitchen is available for "pop-up" dinners at the tent for groups wishing to cater a meal prior to a Theatre Aspen performance. Group ticket discounts would apply. (more...)

Theatre Aspen announced the launch of a new play development series today, with the early workshopping of Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater musical Alice By Heart, based on the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The Astoria Performing Arts Center (APAC) announced today that Artistic Director Tom Wojtunik will be stepping down from his position as Artistic Director on June 30th, 2014. During Wojtunik's six years as Artistic Director, he successfully raised the company's artistic profile and solidified APAC's place as a respected developer and producer of new works. The production will be May 10th at 5:00 PM show at The South Orange Performing Arts Center (One SOPAC Way, South Orange, NJ, 07079). Statewide open auditions were held in early March and 15 writers have been selected to join the movement of 'giving motherhood a microphone.'
