Rupert Holmes to Headline New York Theatre Barn's Master Class Benefit, 4/13

Tony Award-winning Rupert Holmes will headline the second annual master class benefit event for the New York-based non-profit theatre company New York Theatre Barn called A Conversation with Rupert Holmes: From Platinum Piņa Coladas to Tony-winning Playwright on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at 2pm at the SVA Theatre in New York City. All proceeds will support New York Theatre Barn's convention-defying process for new musical development and its ongoing operations. This event follows on the heels of 2013's sold-out benefit event starring living legend Barry Manilow, and will be hosted by The New York Post theater columnist Michael Riedel. (more...)

Bergen County Players to Present TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, 3/22-4/12

Bergen County Players continues its 'From Page to Stage' season with Christopher Sergel's adaptation of Harper Lee's Pulitzer Prize-winning landmark American classic 'To Kill a Mockingbird' beginning Saturday, March 22nd and concluding Saturday, April 12th. This timeless tale of innocence and tolerance follows the journey of a young white girl whose father has been appointed to defend a black man framed for a crime he claims he did not commit. Performed at the Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell, the drama provides a poignant look at justice and the human spirit, as told through the eyes of a young girl learning the mysteries and realities of adulthood. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 pm ($20) and Sundays at 2:00 pm ($16). Tickets may be purchased online at www.bcplayers.org, by calling 201-261-4200 or by visiting the box office at 298 Kinderkamack Road during regular box office hours. 'To Kill a Mockingbird' contains strong racial language. (more...)

Knock 'Em Dead Dinner Theatre (KED) has a great production of ACCOMPLICE by Rupert Holmes and directed by Becky Kimsey. The script was wonderful! I would have to say that the script was the best thing about this show. At intermission, you thought one or two options. By 10 minutes into the second act however, you were happy to be taken along for the ride. Since I was in the audience, that's all you'll get out of me on the plot (more...)

Executive Producers Dee Wilson-Bunn of the Stage Door Theatre in South Florida today announced an addition to the company's 2013-2014 Season - the award-winning pre-New York engagement of WIESENTHAL, written by and starring Tom Dugan. Produced by Tony Award-winner Normand Kurtz, who brought Broward audiences the record-breaking hit Too Jewish, WIESENTHAL tells the remarkable story of the life of Simon Wiesenthal, sometimes referred to as 'The Jewish James Bond.' Told with hope, humanity and humor, the play follows Wiesenthal as he addresses a group of visitors on his last day at the Jewish Documentation Center in Vienna. As he reflects on his life and work, Wiesenthal recounts how he faced Hitler's SS; how he endured the loss of family and friends; how he escaped a concentration camp only to be recaptured; and how, after liberation day, he began a remarkable journey for justice.
