Director Clifford Butler has assembled a top notch cast with an added bonus. He chose to blind cast the roles in the musical, making fully half of the traditionally male roles, female. (more...)

BWW Review: Pewitt's Star Turn Electrifies Keeton Theatre's ANNIE GET YOUR GUNBWW Review: Pewitt's Star Turn Electrifies Keeton Theatre's ANNIE GET YOUR GUN
by Jeffrey Ellis - Oct 7, 2016

There's something about Tonya Pewitt, a certain, almost indefinable, something that makes her an ideal musical theater leading lady (perhaps, we admit, that's a dated term in these politically correct times – we are, after all, in the 21st century and the election of the first woman president of the United States seems imminent – but in regard to Ms. Pewitt, we use the term affectionately, respectfully and even reverently), attributes that she has accumulated, if you will, in a lifetime spent as a fan of classic Broadway and film musicals. She's charming and oh-so-engaging, beautifully alive onstage in a way only great musical theater stars can be when the follow spot hits them upon their first entrance. (more...)

BWW Review: Mad Cow's All-Female '1776' is Stunningly Moving, Revolutionary TheatreBWW Review: Mad Cow's All-Female '1776' is Stunningly Moving, Revolutionary Theatre
by Matt Tamanini - Sep 29, 2016

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary to rethink a centuries-entrenched conception, it must be done with ideas audacious and revolutionary enough to forever upset the status quo. That was true in a small, stuffy Philadelphia room in 1776, and it is true now at Orlando's Mad Cow Theatre. While the newest production from the Church Street company might not have the same lasting impact as the creation of the United States, it is undoubtedly one of the best theatrical productions that Central Florida has seen in recent years. BWW Review: The Engeman's 1776BWW Review: The Engeman's 1776
by Melissa Giordano - Sep 28, 2016

In seeing the Tony winning Sherman Edwards/Peter Stone musical 1776, we get an interesting account of the events leading up to the signing of the Declaration Of Independence. It is actually uncanny - and kind of funny - how this story still resonates today; petty arguing amongst congress and how divided 'leaders' can be are emphasized in this production. Obviously we've come far since then but, at the same time, it seems not far at all. (more...)
