The DOWNTOWN URBAN ARTS FESTIVAL will present 16 plays (nine shorts and seven one-acts.) The festival kicks off on Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6 when Savion Glover and Reg E. Gaines (Bring in da Noise Bring in da Funk) make a much-anticipated return to The Public Theater with the centerpiece production If Trane Wuz Here. 

Dialogue with Three Chords (D3C) will debuts their first season of plays in-person since before the pandemic. First up is the brand-new work 'An Under Rehearsed Failure of a Production of Sir William Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance,' written by Stephen Gracia and directed by Michael LoPorto.

The Downtown Urban Arts Festival has selected the finalists for the 21st annual season to run Spring 2023 in Manhattan, NYC.

The Blank Theatre's Living Room Series has announced a reading of The Lucky Ones by Lia Romeo on Monday, January 10, at 8pm. Directed by Christopher James Raymond, the cast will feature (in alphabetical order) Robyn Cohen, Lizzie Peet, and Adam J. Smith.

LAByrinth Theater Company (John Ortiz, Artistic Director; Aaron Roman Weiner, Associate Artistic Director) announces the selections for their 20th Annual Barn Series, the award-winning company's developmental play reading series. This year's series features seven new plays written and directed by LAB company members and friends. All readings are free and open to the public, and run from January 6-12, 2020 at Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street, between Barrow and Bedford), where LAByrinth is the Company in Residence. Reservations will open to the public on Dec 20th, 2019.

In Spring/Summer 2020, the Downtown Urban Arts Festival (DUAF) will return for its 18th annual season with Reg E. Gaines, Tony-nominated for Bring in da Noise Bring in da Funk, back as its Artistic Director. After his evaluation of scripts from a new crop of emerging playwrights from around the world, DUAF is has announced its 2020 finalists.

Dialogue with Three Chords (D3C) starts their ninth season of independent theatre with THE EMPIRE NEVER ENDED this Thursday, August 22 at 8pm downstairs at Von Bar on 3 Bleecker Street, New York, NY 10012. Admission is free for the show, which features two new works written by Stephen Gracia and directed by Michael LoPorto, and includes a live performance by acoustic-Riot Grrl-pop-punk duo Dolltits.

Dialogue with Three Chords (D3C) announced their cast for their first installment of WELCOME TO THE APOCALYPSE SURVIVORS CLUB to be staged on Thursday, February 21, at 8pm downstairs at Von Bar on 3 Bleecker Street, New York, NY 10012. The series of short performances, written by Stephen Gracia and directed by Michael LoPorto, centers on a group of people whose apocalyptic expectations didn't pan out. Admission is free.

The Tank announces the talented playwrights selected for LIT Council, an 8-month development intensive for male playwrights of color. During their time with the Council (October 2018 through April 2019), writers will be in an affinity space with one another, developing a project and having in-depth conversations around their identity as men of color working in the theatre field as playwrights.
