The Broadway Education Alliance, Disney Theatrical Group and Camp Broadway LLC has announced that $87,975 in educational scholarships have been awarded to students participating in the 11th annual Roger Rees Awards for Excellence in Student Performance, a celebration of high school musical programs in the Greater New York area.

The New York City Gay Men’s Chorus, Youth Pride Chorus, and Tonewall today announced that HARMONY, their annual Valentine themed fundraiser will honor Cyndi Lauper with the Arts In Action Award, presented annually to an artist or arts organization dedicated to sharing their talents and passion to make the world a more inclusive home for all people.

Claim Our Space Now, Hamilton's Krystal Joy Brown, along with fellow officials, leaders, and activists have come together to urge the Broadway & theatrical community at large to peacefully protest the erasure of Black lives and Black Trans Lives in our communities. In alliance with Broadway for Racial Justice, Claim Our Space Now is fighting for respect and action for Tony McDade, Riah Milton, Dominique Fells, Nina Pop, and the countless other lives that have been stolen with little to no recourse. All of our voices are valuable in this urgent fight to save ALL Black lives.

The world premiere musical THE VISITOR, is currently in rehearsals! THE VISITOR, features music by Pulitzer Prize winner Tom Kitt, lyrics by Pulitzer Prize winner Brian Yorkey, book by Kwame Kwei-Armah and Brian Yorkey, choreography by Lorin Latarro, and is directed by Tony Award winner Daniel Sullivan. Performances begin on Tuesday, March 24 and run through Sunday, May 10.

The Broadway Education Alliance has announced the 2020 roster of Greater New York City high schools participating in the 10th annual presentation of The Roger Rees Awards for Excellence in Student Performance, www.rogerreesawards.com. The fifty-three (53) high schools represent Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island, as well as Long Island, Orange County, Rockland County, and Westchester County.

Last night, The Jimmy Awards held their 11th annual ceremony at Broadway's Minskoff Theatre.
The top awards went to Ethan Kelso and Ekele Ukegbu, for Best Performance by an Actor, and Actress, respectively. Kelso took home the prize for his performance as Will Bloom in Big Fish at Salt Lake School for the Performing Arts in Logan, Utah, while Ukegbu won for her performances as the title role of Aida at Elmont Memorial Junior-Senior High School in New York City.
