Illinois House and Senate Safeguard 2020 Funding for Illinois Arts Council Agency

The budget bill passed by the Illinois House and Senate over the holiday weekend preserves $13.3 million in funding for the Illinois Arts Council Agency, critical funds that support individual artists and arts organizations in more than 90% of legislative districts across the state. The legislation also safeguards a historic $50 million investment to the arts sector made as part of 2019's a?oeRebuild Illinoisa?? capital bill.

THE KING'S SPEECH Comes To Hartford Stage In March

Former Artistic Director Michael Wilson will return to Hartford Stage in March to direct the original play which inspired the Academy Award-winning film The King's Speech. Written by Academy Award-winning screenwriter David Seidler, the play tells the true story of King George VI, his speech therapist Lionel Logue, and a friendship that helped steer the course of history. The King's Speech will run Thursday, March 19, through Sunday, April 19.

A new adaptation of Jane Eyre, Charlotte Brontë's beloved tale of courage, sacrifice and self-respect, will debut next month at Hartford Stage. The novel has been adapted for the stage by Hartford Stage Associate Artistic Director Elizabeth Williamson, who will also direct. Jane Eyre runs Thursday, February 13, through Saturday, March 14.
