In the 12-time Tony nominated musical Fun Home, a college-age Allison, played onstage by Emily Skeggs, sings 'Changing My Major'- a song about her new romance with 'Joan.' Based on the graphic memoir of the same name by Allison Bechdel, the musical is based on her youth, and 'Joan' indeed was a real part of her time at Oberlin College. (more...)

Happy Birthday, Judy Kuhn! Kuhn made her Broadway debut was in The Mystery of Edwin Drood. She then played Cosette in the 1987 multiple award winning Broadway production of Les Miserables brought her the first Tony Award nomination. The following year, Kuhn took on a transfer from London's West End, playing one of the main roles (Florence Vassy) in the Trevor Nunn-directed Chess, with music by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus (formerly of ABBA) and lyrics by Tim Rice. Later in 1993, Kuhn played the role of Betty Schaefer in the U.S premier production of Sunset Boulevard at the Shubert Theatre in Los Angeles. Kuhn sang the title role in the 1995 Disney animated film, Pocahontas, the film included her rendition of the song Colors of the Wind, which won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for its composers Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz. On October 23, 2007, Kuhn returned to the Broadway Production of Les Miserables after 20 years, but this time assuming the role of Fantine. (more...)

The 81st Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony and Luncheon was held at the Marriott Marquis Times Square in the Broadway Ballroom (1535 Broadway) on Friday, May 15, 2015 where our winners were announced. The ceremony was hosted by Hand To God star, Steven Boyer and Tyrone. Awards were presented by Zachary Quinto and Neil Patrick Harris. Discussing her long-standing relationship and memorable musical collaborations with Coleman himself and recounting tales from their time shared together on the original Broadway production of THE LIFE, for which White took home a Best Featured Actress In A Musical Tony Award back in 1997, White also opens up about her participation in a lesser-known Coleman property titled LIKE JAZZ and acting as a replacement performer in the original Broadway production of Coleman's circus-themed hit BARNUM. Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Managing Director Jeff Griffin, has announced that its upcoming production of DOCTOR FAUSTUS, adapted by David Bridel and Andrei Belgrader from the play by Christopher Marlowe, starring Chris Noth ("Law & Order," "Sex and the City," "The Good Wife"), directed by Andrei Belgrader (CSC's production of The Cherry Orchard) will extend through Sunday, July 12.  Previews will now begin Tuesday, June 2 with an official opening Thursday, June 18 at CSC (136 East 13th Street).   Joining Noth in the cast are Tony Award nominee and "The Good Wife" co-star Zach Grenier as Mephistopheles, Jeffrey Binder, Ken Cheeseman, Carmen M. Herlihy, Walker Jones, Marina Lazzaretto, Geoffrey Owens and Lucas Caleb Rooney.  (more...)
