Amas Musical Theatre's Donna Trinkoff (Artistic Producer) Rosetta LeNoire Musical Theatre Academy will present FAME: The Musical, based on the 1980 musical film conceived and developed by David De Silva, with a book by Jose Fernandez, lyrics by Jacques Levy, and music by Steve Margoshes (Title song 'Fame' by Dean Pitchford & Michael Gore). Directed by Christopher Scott and David Drake (Associate Director), choreography by Monica Johnson and musical direction by Trevor Bachman, the production will feature 29 members of 'The Teen Academy.' Performances will begin on Friday, May 1, 2015 (and continue through May 10) at The Theatre at the 14th Street Y (344 East 14th Street - between 1st & 2nd Aves). As their award-winning theatre home in Bed-Stuy's Restoration Plaza undergoes a multi-million dollar facelift, The Billie Holiday Theatre (BHT) has announced a move that will bring their acclaimed productions to Brooklyn's flourishing Downtown Cultural District. Thanks to a special partnership with the Brooklyn Music School Playhouse, BHT will kick off a two-year residency with a high profile run of the play Brothers from the Bottom, starring actor and TONY Award-winning producer Wendell Pierce (SELMA, Treme, The Wire). The play, written and directed by BHT artistic director Jackie Alexander, will run March 6th - 29th at the Brooklyn Music School Playhouse, 126 Saint Felix Street between Hanson and Lafayette, in the heart of the BAM Cultural District. Burning Coal Theatre Company of Raleigh, NC will present the world premiere of Terry Milner's The Jesus Fund January 30 through February 16, 2014. Performance dates are Thursdays through Saturdays, January 30 - February 1, February 6 - 8 and February 13 - 15 at 7:30 pm and Sundays, February 2, 9 and 16th at 2 pm.
