The York Theatre Company, dedicated to the development of new musicals and preserving musical gems from the past, will present an unforgettable one-night only benefit, The 100 Musicals in Mufti Concert Celebration. The evening will honor the acclaimed Musicals in Mufti Series and its landmark 100th production, on Monday evening, March 30, 2015 beginning at 7:30 p.m. in The Sanctuary at Saint Peter's Church (619 Lexington Avenue at the corner of East 54th Street). All proceeds will benefit The York Theatre Company and the Musicals in Mufti Series. (more...)

George Street Playhouse and Artistic Director David Saint welcome New Jersey native John Tartaglia, from the original Broadway cast of Avenue Q, as well as TV's Sesame Street and the Emmy Award - nominated Johnny and the Sprites to New Brunswick as the sole cast member of Buyer & Cellar, the fourth production of the New Brunswick theatre's current season. Mr. Tartaglia will take the fictional journey to the fictional version of Barbra Streisand's fictional basement beginning tonight, March 3 through March 29. Opening night is set for Friday, March 6. Happy Birthday, John Tartaglia! Tartaglia created and puppeteered the roles of Princeton (the recent college grad) and Rod (the closeted Republican investment banker) in the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Avenue Q, which opened July 31, 2003. For the roles, he was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical in 2004. He joined the cast of Beauty and the Beast as Lumiere on November 21, 2006 and played the roles of Pinocchio and the Magic Mirror in Shrek the Musical. He most recently produced Imaginocean. Closing the Gap - A Benefit Concert - A special One Night Only Concert featuring the songs of Dramatist Guild Fellows Dana Levinson and Stacey Weingarten. Inspired by an Ira Glass quote, musical theater writing team Levinson and Weingarten air their dirty laundry and reveal the sometimes painful but often hilarious process of closing the gap between artistic taste and ability. Recommended for ages three and up, the popular Emmy Award nominated PBS KIDS series comes to life for this interactive 'pre-hysterical' musical. John Tartaglia's ImaginOcean, a one-of-a-kind, live, black-light puppet show, returns by popular demand to Segerstrom Center for the Arts March 7 & 8, 2015 in Samueli Theater. Part of the Center's Family Series, ImaginOcean follows the lovable sea creatures and best friends Tank, Bubbles and Dorsel, who just happen to be fish. Audiences follow them as they set off on a remarkable journey of discovery. It all starts with a treasure map, and then the adventure begins, as they swim off in search of clues. All along the way, the friends sing, dance and make new friends, including everyone in the audience. Ultimately, they discover the greatest treasure of all: FRIENDSHIP.
