National Geographic, with Fox 21 Studios and Imagine Television Studios, announced today that Grammy Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated musician Raphael Saadiq has been tapped to serve as executive music producer on GENIUS: ARETHA. Saadiq is responsible for producing, arranging and recording all of the original song elements within the series featuring live performances. The score will be written and produced by multi-Grammy Award-winner and Academy Award nominee Terence Blanchard ('Harriet,' 'BlacKkKlansman').

These legendary songwriters wrote mega-hits such as, 'Vision of Love,” “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This),” “Shout,” “The Joker,” “Hollaback Girl,” “Heaven is a Place on Earth,” and “Dancing In The Street.” The star-studded induction event is slated for Thursday, June 11th at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. How does it feel to be nominated for a BWW Award?
It's very validating and gratifying to be recognized in this nomination, so it feels great! I have had a very busy year crafting and launching three different shows from three different eras and categories of music - with great audience response for each - and it's helped me grow in many ways. Without being cliche, it has been quite a journey. I really challenged myself on many levels and was also dealt some unexpected challenges but all-in-all, everything I've been through has been a growth

Arts Centre Melbourne is thrilled to present a kaleidoscope of life-affirming performances and events as part of Midsumma Festival 2020 in January and February. The diverse line-up will feature The Rise and Fall of Saint George, an electronic choral celebration of resilience and community, Daddy, a delicious confection of dance and storytelling, BOOBS, an inspiring tale of body autonomy and the Midsumma Extravaganza, an ultra-glamourous gala returning for its third year. For the 2020 program Arts Centre Melbourne will also present two free events, Escape Velocity: We Are Who We Are, a vital film project made with transgender and gender non-conforming young people and a staged reading of Flat-Earthers, an emerging musical comedy.
