JAZZTOPAD FESTIVAL NYC Returns For 7th Edition, June 23-28

The 2023 US edition of Jazztopad, from June 23-30, will feature a series of commissions from the acclaimed Lutosławski Quartet in collaboration with jazz piano luminaries Craig Taborn and Uri Caine, EMMY-winning composer Don Davis and sought-after bassist and composer Michael Bates. Iraqi-American trumpeter and composer Amir ElSaffar will also perform on opening night in a return Jazztopad engagement.

Imagination will be released through OMAD Records, the boutique label of the album's producer John DeNicola. Impossible to peg, Lewis also lets loose with a country waltz (“The Garden Song”), a flamenco-influenced tragedy (“La Mujer”) and a jazzy, trippy nightmare (“Frank Zappa’s Ghost”).

The 2022-2023 HB Artist Faculty Performance Series concludes on Friday, April 14, 2023, at 7:30 pm with a performance of Clara Schumann’s Piano Trio in G minor, Op. 17 performed by violinist April Johnson, cellist Peter Seidenberg and pianist Tomoko Uchino as well as a selection of jazz standards, improvisations and originals performed by jazz pianist Jamie Reynolds and saxophonist Ed Palermo.

Opera enthusiasts, culture cultivators and audiophiles were treated to a lavish celebration at the launch of the Nashville Bel Canto Foundation on Friday, March 10 at BMI, hosted by founder and president Stefano Baldasseroni. The fundraising gala featured four of the top rising operatic talent from The Curtis Institute, The Julliard School and Yale School of Music accompanied by Nicolò Sbuelz of The Metropolitan Opera.
