Alliance Theatre’s season is coming to an end with TRADING PLACES, a world premiere musical. With book by Thomas Lennon, and music and lyrics by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner, TRADING PLACES is a delight for viewers.

Due to popular demand, The Marsh San Francisco has extended fan favorite Don Reed’s Going Out, with new material added. 

A&E Network will premiere the new two-part documentary event “Right to Offend: The Black Comedy Revolution” exploring the progression of Black comedy and the comedians who have used pointed humor to expose, challenge and ridicule society’s injustices and to articulate the Black experience in America.

Complete casting has been announced for WOMEN OF A CERTAIN AGE: THE MUSICAL™ ahead of the production’s official world premiere and 'Take a Shot' tour launch in Phoenix later this month.

Eddie Murphy’s portrayal of hotshot advertising executive Marcus Graham made BOOMERANG a hit when it was first released in theaters on July 1, 1992.  Featuring an all-star cast that includes Robin Givens, Halle Berry, David Alan Grier, Martin Lawrence, Grace Jones, Geoffrey Holder, and Eartha Kitt, Chris Rock, John Witherspoon, Tisha Campbell, and Melvin Van Peebles, this celebrated comedy was ahead of its time in playfully challenging stereotypes. The movie’s hit soundtrack, featuring Babyface, Toni Braxton, and Boyz II Men, topped the Billboard charts and earned triple platinum status.

Created by Sam Jay (“Sam Jay: 3 in the Morning”, “Bust Down”) and Prentice Penny (HBO’s “Insecure”, “Uncorked”), each week Sam hosts a party at her apartment, where she and her guests explore current topics. In an era of discord, Sam sets out to listen, learn, and ask questions to those with different perspectives.

Produced by Live Nation and Femme It Forward, the 18-city tour kicks off on Wednesday, August 3rd at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, CA, making stops across the US in Las Vegas, Atlanta, Miami and more before performing in Europe and wrapping up on Thursday, September 8th in Paris, France at the Bataclan. 

After re-opening the doors of The Marsh Berkeley in August 2021, performing to sold out crowds and standing ovations, fan favorite Don Reed will return to The Marsh San Francisco with Going Out, with new material added.

Jamaica Moon Productions presents three short plays by two great 20th Century American playwrights. All three plays are love stories, and one is a comedy.

Keyboard/organ wizard John Medeski, Galactic drummer Stanton Moore, and eclectic saxophonist Skerik will reprise their recently-devised jazz trio project for an improvisational clinic at New Orleans, LA’s The Howlin' Wolf on Sunday, May 1st at 1:00 a.m. (technically early-morning 5/2). The performance will also feature a special appearance by enigmatic bassist MonoNeon [get tickets].

Virginia Stage Company and Norfolk State University Theatre Company join forces again to present the Tony, Grammy, and Drama Desk Award-Winning musical Dreamgirls at The Historic Wells Theatre (108 E. Tazewell Street, Norfolk VA) from April 13th to May 1st, 2022.

Jon Favreau, Academy Award-winning filmmaker best known for his creative, innovative work in the Star Wars, Iron Man and Avengers series, among many others, will receive this year's Distinguished Artisan Award at the 9th Annual  Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Awards (MUAHS, IATSE Local 706), presented by HASK Beauty.
