Tracy Letts' The Minutes, the newest work from the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright of August: Osage County, has officially opened on Broadway last night at Studio 54. BroadwayWorld was there for the special occasion and you can check out photos from the red carpet arrivals .

David Mamet's American Buffalo opened on Broadway at Circle in the Square Theatre (235 W 50th Street), exactly two years after it was originally scheduled to open and BroadwayWorld was there to capture pictures of the guests on opening night!

Symphony Space (Executive Director: Kathy Landau), the NYC cultural institution that produces unforgettable one-night-only events, presents a quintessentially Symphony Space concert, Celebrating Sondheim: Songs from A Little Night Music, on Monday, April 25. The Tony Award winning musical The Drowsy Chaperone, the current offering from The Noel S. Ruiz Theatre at CM Performing Arts Center (CMPAC), is indeed a fascinating piece. I say fascinating because at its entertaining core, it is a show within a show spoofing old musicals. The plot includes mistaken identities, dream sequences, an unexcitable English butler, a Broadway producer going crazy over his Follies production, comical gangsters, a ditzy chorine, a harried best man, and an alcoholic, er, “drowsy”, chaperone amongst other stereotypes. The enjoyable Jordan Hue directed incarnation runs through March 12th at the charming Oakdale, Long Island, venue.

On Sunday, March 20, 2022, Encompass New Opera Theatre, The Board of Trustees and The Encompass Honorary Gala Chairs, Sheldon Harnick and Maury Yeston will pay tribute to Legendary Theatrical Icon and Tony Award-winning luminaries, CHITA RIVERA and DANNY BURSTEIN, with a star-studded musical salute.

Manhattan Theatre Club is presenting the world premiere of Prayer for the French Republic, written by Drama Desk Award winner Joshua Harmon and directed by Tony Award winner David Cromer. The production opened Tuesday, February 1 at New York City Center – Stage I (131 West 55th Street).

A video for “She Has Hope” performed by Brian d’Arcy James and composer Tom Kitt. Produced alongside Project ALS, the video is a beautiful tribute to late Broadway star Rebecca Luker, who passed away from ALS. The video features never-before-seen footage of the Tony-nominated actress as well as videos of other women diagnosed with the disease.

 The Broadway company of the Tony Award-winning Best Musical Moulin Rouge! The Musical will welcome Eric Anderson in the role of club impresario Harold Zidler beginning Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th St, NYC).
