Lifetime has ordered the drama pilot The Clan of the Cave Bear, based on Jean M. Auel's series of best-selling novels, it was announced today by Rob Sharenow, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Lifetime. A co-production of Fox 21 and Lionsgate in association with Imagine Television and Allison Shearmur Productions, the project will be executive produced by Academy Award(R)-winning director Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind, Rush) and Oscar(R) and Emmy(R) Award winner Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind, 24), along with Allison Shearmur (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Cinderella), Linda Woolverton (Maleficent, The Lion King), who is writing the pilot, Francie Calfo (Gang Related, Empire) and Jean M. SHOWTIME has given a pilot production order to ROADIES, a comedy that follows the day-to-day life of a successful rock tour as seen through the eyes of music's unsung background players - the crew members who help get the show on the road. Cameron Crowe, who won an Oscar(R) for brilliantly chronicling the highs and lows of rock and roll life as witnessed by a Rolling Stone magazine cub reporter in his semi-autobiographical film Almost Famous, wrote and will direct the one-hour pilot (for a potential half-hour series). Crowe will executive produce with Emmy(R) and Tony(R) nominee Winnie Holzman (Huge, My So-Called Life, Wicked), who will serve as showrunner, as well as Emmy winners J.J. Abrams (Lost, Fringe, Person of Interest) and Bryan Burk (Lost, Fringe, Person of Interest). Kathy Lingg (Person of Interest, Revolution) is co-executive producer. ROADIES is produced by Bad Robot Productions, Vinyl Films and Dooley & Company Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television. Eve Ensler's groundbreaking show, The Vagina Monologues, will return in a new form when the first New York City revival opens for a Spanish language engagement at its original off-Broadway home. Los Monologos de la Vagina will begin performances at the Westside Theatre (407 West 43rd Street) on May 6 . Opening night will be announced. Mexican director Jaime Matarredona helms the production. It is produced by Morris Gilbert and Federico Gonzalez Compean. This will mark the first time that a mainstream off-Broadway theatre has hosted a commercial Spanish language play for an ongoing run.
