The New York Arts and Sciences Salon has announced pianist Michael Fennelly, Soprano Megan Weston and Tenor Ian McUen will join composer Patrick Soluri in concert this Thursday April 30.  The concert, which takes place at the newly renovated Beethoven Piano Concert Space, showcases the composer's love of storytelling through music in works of opera, ballet and film/television scoring.  Concert highlights will include an aria from Mr. Soluri's dramatic one-act opera EMBEDDED, which Fort Worth Opera has just announced to be part of their 2016 season,  and his 10 minute comic opera FIGARO & THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE. Today, Wells Fargo Center for the Arts announced two new performances to the 2015 line-up featuring celebrated rock duo Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo: 35th Anniversary Tour on Friday, July 31, 2015, and on Friday, September 11, 2015, Live Nation presents Grammy Award winning comedian Lewis Black: The Rant is Due Part Deux. Tickets for Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo: 35th Anniversary Tour and Lewis Black: The Rant is Due Part Deux are $65 and $45. Tickets for both shows go on sale Friday, May 1, 2015 at noon and will be available online at wellsfargocenterarts.org, by calling 707-546-3600, and in person at the box office at 50 Mark West Springs Road in Santa Rosa. Later this morning, Bruce Willis and Mary-Louise Parker will announce the 2015 Tony Award Nominations LIVE from the Paramount Hotel's Diamond Horseshoe in New York City, but another question still remains...who will host the ceremony in June? According to today's New York Post, the Tonys have tapped stage and screen stars Kristin Chenoweth (currently starring On the Twentieth Century) and Alan Cumming for the job. (more...)

Few have been more supportive and inspiring in this endeavor than the legendary performing piano duo of Melvin Stecher and Norman Horowitz. These two distinguished musicians created the Stecher and Horowitz Foundation, a non-profit organization as an outgrowth of The Stecher and Horowitz School of the Arts in Cedarhurst, New York. This event will honor philanthropist Henry Buhl for his contributions to Urban Stages and the New York Community as the Founder of the Association of Community Employment for the Homeless (ACE). Brilliant singer and actress, KT Sullivan will receive the first Musical Theatre Award for her work with Urban Stages and as director of the Mabel Mercer Foundation which produces the New York Cabaret Convention. Explaining his part in the production as well as the unique demands of a special limited run concert presentation such as ZORBA! is, Fontana also opens up about the rehearsal process for the show and the developing rapport and camaraderie between himself and the starry assortment of fellow cast members involved in the production - including John Turturro, Zoe Wanamaker, Marin Mazzie and more, all directed by Walter Bobbie. Sonia Olla (dancer/choreographer) and Ismael de la Rosa Fernandez (singer) will topline 'Al Son Son - Flamenco,' a 90-minute spectacle of authentic Andalusian music and dance to be presented at Tribeca Performing Arts Center May 28. The one-night concert will highlight the traditions of La Familia Fernandez, one of Flamenco's most distinguished families. Olla and Fernandez, while famous in Spain, are rarely seen in concert in the U.S., but they appeared in March at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC and more recently in a sold-out NYC Tablao at the Roger Smith Hotel that produced cries for more. The May 28 concert is an opportunity for them to share their distinctive music and techniques with a wider audience. Seating is limited to 260 seats. Tickets are $20 general admission and can be purchased at 212.220.1460 and www.tribecapac.org. (more...)
