This special concert, celebrating the Baby Boom generation, highlights songs and television shows from the 1960s. Carnegie Hall today announced that soprano Jennifer Zetlan has agreed to step in for Kiera Duffy on Sunday, April 27 at 6:00 p.m., performing the U.S. premiere of composer Richard Ayres's No. 42 In the Alps with contemporary music group Alarm Will Sound at Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall. World-revered virtuosa Midori returns to Walt Disney Concert Hall in a recital program, Wednesday, April 23, at 8 pm. She is accompanied by pianist Özgur Aydin in a program of wide-ranging repertoire for violin and piano. The recital opens with Debussy's Sonata in G minor, followed by Shostakovich's Sonata, Op. 134; after intermission, it continues with Beethoven's Sonata No. 10 in G Major, Op. 96, and closes with Schubert's Rondo in B minor, D. 895. Carnegie Hall today announced that a duo performance by critically-acclaimed and award-winning pianists Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock has just been added to its 2014-2015 concert season. The performance-which will take place on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage-will feature the two master musicians who share more than forty years of professional and personal history in a rare duet concert. For over half a century, Hancock and Corea have blazed their own paths of artistic innovation at the keyboard. Teatro Regio Torino to Launch First North American Tour at Harris Theater, 12/3

The Harris Theater for Music and Dance today confirmed that a major event of the 2014-2015 Harris Theater Presents season will be the North American debut performance of the Turin, Italy-based Teatro Regio Torino orchestra and chorus, under the leadership of Music Director and Conductor Gianandrea Noseda. Teatro Regio Torino will open its first-ever North American tour at the Harris Theater on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 7PM with a historic, one-night-only concert performance of Gioachino Rossini's opera William Tell. Teatro Regio Torino's four-stop tour-with performances in Chicago, Ann Arbor, Toronto, and New York's Carnegie Hall-also marks the first time an Italian opera house will tour an opera in concert form in North America. The December 3 production will feature soprano Angela Meade as Matilde, tenor John Osborn as Arnoldo, and baritone Fabio Capitanucci in the title role of Guglielmo Tell. Century old high jewelry house Buccellati, which recently opened a boutique on Oak Street, will be one of the sponsors for the debut performance at the Harris Theater. Paquito D'Rivera to Lead Worksop, Concert for Young Jazz Musicians, 5/12-16

From May 12 to 16, Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute will present a workshop for young jazz instrumentalists led by renowned Latin jazz artist Paquito D'Rivera. The prolific composer, conductor, clarinetist, and saxophonist teams up with members of his ensemble to mentor these young jazz musicians during an intensive weeklong workshop, co-designed by acclaimed bassist and educator Oscar Stagnaro, that culminates with a concert in Zankel Hall on Friday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m. During the concert, the young musicians will perform music composed by D'Rivera and other Latin jazz works alongside D'Rivera himself, Stagnaro, and other members of the Paquito D'Rivera Ensemble including pianist Alex Brown, percussionist Pernell Satuemino, trumpeter Diego Urcola, and drummer Mark Walker. Of all the music that Richard Strauss wrote during his long career—and he'd composed almost 60 songs and more than 40 piano works by the time he was 18—perhaps none are more gorgeous and moving than his FOUR LAST SONGS (VIER LETZTE LIEDER). Finnish soprano Karita Mattila's performance on Saturday night at Carnegie Hall with the Munich Philharmonic under Fabio Luisi was gleaming and full bodied, and she held the audience in her thrall. The Arvo Part Project at St. Vladimir's Seminary presents a concert in Carnegie Hall devoted to the music of Estonian composer Arvo Part. The concert will take place on Saturday, May 31 at 8:00 p.m. in Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium, and will feature performers closely associated with Mr. Part's music. An additional performance of Kanon Pokajanen will be performed in The Temple of Dendur at The Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday, June 2, and a lecture based on Mr. Part and his music will be held in The Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium at The Metropolitan Museum of Art on Wednesday, June 11.
