Fundraiser and Comedy Show Announced For No Kid Hungry

Join in on Monday, January 3rd, 2022 at 8pm for a virtual fundraiser and improvised comedy show with 100% of funds benefitting No Kid Hungry. Every dollar, according to the charity, helps feed up to ten meals to hungry children around the world. Suggested donation is $20 but as little as $1 is appreciated and gains access to the show.

The Danger: A Homage to Strange Fruit is a theatrical symphony in four movements that contemplates the legacy of violence against Black bodies in America. Inspired by the mysterious hanging death of 17-year-old Lennon Lacy in 2014 in Bladenboro, NC, this dystopic ghost play follows the interracial couple He and She into the world of The Station, a long ago abandoned rail station waiting room, an in-between place that houses Black souls who left the earth in violent ways and who constantly seek their way home. In 2015, Rose received NYU's Rita Goldberg Prize for The Danger -- an award recognizing the best play by a graduate or undergraduate student.

Clubbed Thumb Announces Winners of the 2017 Biennial Commission

Five time Obie Award-winning theater company Clubbed Thumb (Maria Striar, Producing Artistic Director; Sarah McLellan, Managing Director; Michael Bulger, Associate Artistic Director) has announced the winners of the seventh Clubbed Thumb Biennial Commission. Playwrights Angela Hanks and Gabrielle Reisman will split the $15,000 award, each also receiving two years of development support. Three finalists were also named: Gracie Gardner, Daniel Glenn and Paul Cameron Hardy, each of whom will receive a $1,000 award and an opportunity to workshop their plays.

In addition to its weekly schedule, Saturdays at 3pm, families can enjoy the show Sunday, December 27 through Wednesday, December 30 and Friday, January 1 at 3pm at the Broadway Comedy Club (318 West 53rd Street, New York, NY 10019).
