Previews: THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW at The Black Box
THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW returns to Kansas City on Friday, October 6, and runs through October 31, at The Black Box in the West Bottoms Entertainment District. For the third year, the cult musical will be performed outside and will feature 2 bars, specialty cocktails, fire pits, photo ops, and special Rocky Horror-themed installations. In addition, a handful of vendors will be added to the experience. Audience members will be allowed to bring blankets, and are asked to bring their own lawn chairs.

It’s astounding, time is fleeting, madness takes its toll. . .no it’s the opening weekend of Padgett Productions THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW. The cult musical, which has become a Kansas City favorite, has been ushering in the Halloween season for several years. I have been in the audience at least once (most years twice) each season and am glad to report it gets better every year. I don’t know if it is the witches and goblins of Halloween or the creative genius of Nick Padgett the Artistic Director that makes it unique each year, but it is the time of year for magic.

BWW Review: THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL FOR YOUNG AUDIENCES OPENS IN KANSAS CITY AT THE COTERIE THEATRE
The Coterie Theatre made a big splash with the opening of its world premiere of THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL FOR YOUNG AUDIENCES on November 4th at The Coterie Theatre located in Crown Center in Kansas City, MO. The new version of THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL FOR YOUNG AUDIENCES has never been seen before and is adapted from the animated series, which has entertained children for the last 17 years. Though entertaining for younger audiences I found the musical to be tedious and the constant screaming to be annoying. Maybe I would have enjoyed it more if I had grown up during the SpongeBob era.

MUSIC OF THE NIGHT, celebrating the songs of legendary composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, will be held outdoors, on the open-air rooftop of The Westin Hotel at Crown Center, overlooking the gorgeous Kansas City skyline! The tribute concert will feature tunes from Webber's most iconic musicals including The Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Evita, Jesus Christ Superstar, Sunset Boulevard and more!

Kansas City's very popular Motown and funk band 2 PROUD 2 BEG will be perfroming in MTH's newly renovated Studio Theater, while the 12 piece PEOPLE'S LIBERATION BIG BAND (fresh off their inspiring turn in MTH's recent production of 'An Evening with George Gershwin') will be perfroming in MTH's 133 seat Stage 2, and finally Ensemble Iberica's internationally acclaimed guitar virtuoso, Beau Bledsoe will be performing in MTH's Main stage venue.

On September 20, West Coast musical theatre composer Bill Haller is set to roll out his third L.A.-based live musical "Rock Van Winkle" at Oh My Ribs Theatre at the Complex in Hollywood. "Rock Van Winkle" is the story of a Woodstock era musician who, in August 2001, crawls out of a clothes dryer in an abandoned Laurel Canyon bungalow after a 30-year acid trip and encounters three generations of pop music royalty.
On September 20, West Coast musical theatre composer Bill Haller is set to roll out his third L.A.-based live musical "Rock Van Winkle" at Oh My Ribs Theatre at the Complex in Hollywood.
