With support from the Los Angeles Female Playwrights Initiative, The Vagrancy proudly presents the tactical reading and talk back of Michael Jackson IS DEAD (HEE-HEE), the next female-generated new work being developed in their TACTICAL READS Series.

Set outside of the gates of Neverland in the days immediately following the death of The King of Pop. Michael Jackson IS DEAD (HEE-HEE) delves into the shock and mourning of some of MJ's most loyal fans as they anxiously await news of a potential funeral. Enduring intense heat, poor cell reception, and a lack of water, one group of neighbors is forced to grapple with the repercussions of celebrity devotion and their own delusions.

Directed by Rachel Skytt. With Nina Harada, Stephanie Berlanga, Bruce Lemon Jr., Josh Ballinger & Katherine LaVictoire.

Rachel Skytt grew up in Solvang, California. She earned a B.A. in Dramatic Arts and History from UC Davis. She is also graduate of USC's MFA Dramatic Writing Program.

Directed by Reena Dutt. Her theatre directing credits include working with Theatre of NOTE, SacRed Fools, The Blank, Piano-Fight Production (SF), Disha Theatre (NYC) and Off-Chance Productions (Co-founder). Dutt was involved with Off-Chance's LAWeekly and Ovation winning shows - The Limitations of Genetic Technology and Shaheed: The Dream and Death of Benazir Bhutto. She is currently a 2013-2014 Producing Fellow with Film Independent's Project Involve. The goal of TACTICAL READS is to find amazing, unproduced plays by Los Angeles female playwrights and pair them with female directors. After a play has been selected to workshop, The Vagrancy reaches out to several interested directors to propose a "Target," or specific angle they would like to use to explore the text. These Targets are passed on to the playwright who chooses the director they see most fit, and the pairing is made!

The Vagrancy is a bold and daring Los Angeles-based theatre company. The Vagrancy creates visceral work that seeks to touch the human spirit. Caitlin Hart and Sabina Ptasznik, Co-Artistic Directors; Jordan Scovel, Company Manager; Cort Brinkerhoff, Literary Manager; Andie Bottrell, Social Media Director; Jeremy Mascia, Resident Graphic Designer; Karina Wolfe, Public Relations; Steve Madar; Literary Manager Assistant; Anne Butler, Education Partner; Nina Harada, Chamberpot Editor; Stephanie O'Neil, Tactical Reads Associate Producer.
