According to Showbiz411's Roger Friedman, the halls of New York City's Rose Hall, located in the Time Warner Center, were groovin with the jazz sounds of Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga last night, July 27th. Friedman reports that the twosome performed for a secret taping of a PBS special to be called "Cheek to Cheek," which will air October 24th from 9 to 10pm.

The special will of course be based on their "Cheek to Cheek" album. It was just announced this morning that the LP will be released on September 23rd, just in the nick of time for the Grammy Award deadline.

Among those in attendance at last night's event were Steve van Zandt, legendary writer Gay Talese, NBC's Al Roker, Gaga's parents and grandmothers, and some lucky fans who had participated in a secret lottery.

After hearing Gaga's pipes, Friedman gushes, "after people in the biz see this special she will have offers for "A Star is Born," Broadway shows, you name it. No meat dresses, no gigantic eggs. Her numerous gowns were elegant and gorgeous. She comported herself on stage like a pro. And the voice! Like Ella Fitzgerald. No kidding."

He adds, "The whole "Cheek to Cheek" project will be a game changer for Lady Gaga. For Tony Bennett, it's just another day at the office. He is brilliant."
