The new musical comedy DISASTER!, directed by Jack Plotnick with a book by three-time Emmy Award nominee and Grammy Award nominee Seth Rudetsky and Jack Plotnick, begins performances on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 and officially opens on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 in a limited engagement at Broadway's Nederlander Theatre (208 West 41st Street) through Sunday, July 3, 2016. Laura Benanti (Amalia), Zachary Levi (Georg), Gavin Creel (Kodaly), Michael McGrath (Sipos), Jane Krakowski (Ilona) and Byron Jennings (Maraczek) will star in Roundabout's new Broadway production of SHE LOVES ME, directed by Scott Ellis, choreographed by Warren Carlyle with musical direction by Paul Gemignani. This classic musical comedy features a book by Joe Masteroff, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick and music by Jerry Bock. The company met the press yesterday and BroadwayWorld was on the scene. Our Mother's Brief Affair, the new play by Tony Award winner Richard Greenberg, directed by MTC's award-winning artistic director Lynne Meadow, is now in previews and opened this week on January 20 at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street). Check out photos from the big night here!

Playwrights Horizons presents the New York premiere of FAMILIAR, a new play by Obie Award winner and The Walking Dead star Danai Gurira, directed by Rebecca Taichman. Previews begin Friday, February 12 at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street). Opening Night is set for Thursday, March 3 with a limited engagement through March 27. The company just kicked off rehearsals, and BroadwayWorld has photos from the first day here!

Mary Tyler Moore may not have been in the Metropolitan Room this week as her former on-screen boss Ed Asner (Lou Grant in THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW) performed a one man comedy titled A Man and his Prostate written by Ed. It's astounding. Time is FLEETING. Madness takes its toll. Laverne Cox, who will lead Fox's two-hour television reimagining of THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW this fall, took to Facebook this afternoon to offer a first look inside rehearsal with the cast and crew. Good Theater presents SHEAR MADNESS by Paul Portner, directed by Brian P. Allen (original director Bruce Jordan). The show plays at the St. Lawrence Arts Center, 76 Congress Street, Portland starting January 27 and going for eight weeks through March 20. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast onstage! Jacob Langfelder in partnership with Arts-For-All, Jill Bernard and Rashad Chambers presented a one-night-only concert on Monday, featuring Tony and Grammy Award-winner Jennifer Holliday, along with FUN HOME Tony winner Michael Cerveris, Tony-winning star of the upcoming Roundabout Theatre production of SHE LOVES ME, Laura Benanti, and THE COLOR PURPLE's Rema Webb, along with some of her fellow cast members, including Jennifer Hudson. Tony Award nominee Ramin Karimloo performed his sold-out solo show at London's Union Chapel - with special guests including Ashleigh Gray and Hadley Fraser this week! The Broadway star showed off his killer voice and his incredible talent on the guitar. Check out more photos here!

Steppenwolf Theatre Company presents the Chicago premiere of Annie Baker's 2014 Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, THE FLICK. Under the direction of Dexter Bullard, who also directed the Chicago premiere of Baker's Circle Mirror Transformation, the cast features Danny McCarthy, Caroline Neff and Travis Turner as the three hapless employees of THE FLICK movie house. Previews begin February 4 (opening night is February 14) and runs through May 8, 2016 in Steppenwolf's Upstairs Theatre (1650 N Halsted St).
