Producer Harvey Weinstein was among the honorees at this year's Astaire Awards and used the event to address critics of his Broadway musical FINDING NEVERLAND and his new Radio City production NEW YORK SPRING SPECTACULAR.

According to the New York Post, upon receiving the Astaire Award from presenter Mia Michaels who had referred to Weinstein as "leader of Finding Neverland", the producer joked, "I am not the leader of 'Finding Neverland,' that's Diane Paulus. I'm just her badass brother." He went on to comment, "We need guys like me on Broadway."

In regard to, "New York Spring Spectacular," Weinstein informed his critics, "I've got bad news for you: It's going to be there next year, and the year after, and the year after that."

New York Spring Spectacular debuted in March 2015 and was jointly produced by Madison Square Garden Entertainment and Weinstein Live Entertainment. Originally a limited seven week engagement, the show extended its run through May 7, 2015 due to popular demand.

New York Spring Spectacular took audiences on a whirlwind adventure across New York City, while telling an inspiring and hopeful narrative about New Yorkers who change each other's lives in unexpectedly wonderful ways. The brand-new, live theatrical production starred Tony Award winner Laura Benanti in the role of Jenna, Emmy Award winning choreographer Derek Hough in the role of Jack and the legendary Rockettes. The production also included cameos from some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment including Whoopi Goldberg as the voice of the Statue of Liberty puppet, Bella Thorne as the voice of the Alice in Wonderland puppet, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as the voices of the New York Public Library lion puppets and video cameos featuring Henrik Lundqvist, Carmelo Anthony, Kelly Ripa, Donald Trump and more.

New York Spring Spectacular was led by an award-winning creative team that included Tony and Drama Desk Award winner Warren Carlyle as director and choreographer, Tony Award winning director and Artistic Director of the American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) Diane Paulus and American playwright and Drama Desk Award winner Randy Weiner as the show's co-creative directors, Emmy Award winner Mia Michaels as the choreographer of the production's opening number, and up-and-coming playwright Joshua Harmon.
