Constantine Maroulis Talks Tupac Shakur, Rap & Theatre

AMERICAN IDOL standout and recognizable Tony Award-nominated performer Constantine Maroulis shares his views on the merging of rap and theatre amply evident in the new Broadway musical HOLLER IF YOU HEAR ME as part of a new red carpet interview in honor of its recent opening.
Commenting on Tupac Shakur and his legacy in general, Maroulis shares, "I think Tupac really transcended well beyond just hip-hop - he was everything; I mean, an artist a poet, an actor, a creator...."
Maroulis adds, "I grew up on hip-hop - it was big in the suburbs; you know, the rivalry with Biggie Smalls and all of his cool films."
Furthermore, Maroulis shares of the merging of rap and theatre, "There's been some elements of it - from IN THE HEIGHTS and what-not; you know, a rap or two in this or that. This is probably our first effort into a full catalog for the storytelling being available for a story like this."
Maroulis concludes, "It seems pretty natural - it seems like a natural progression."
