Presented back-to-back in one program, The Typist and The Root of Chaos reflect two distinct styles of twentieth century theatre. Schisgal's mid-century The Typist, is a bittersweet piece that follows the life cycle of two office workers through their everyday conversations about life, love and human existence.
The Root of Chaos is a bizarre, acerbic black comedy, that uses absurdist theatricality to underscore its biting funny comments on the fate of a small-town family that has fallen victim to modern man's mindless plundering of the earth's riches.
