The Little Red Hen Goes Country at Alden Theatre 11/7

By: Nov. 01, 2010

The Alden Theatre is presenting Richmond-based Theatre IV's The Little Red Hen: A Country Musical, as part of its 2010-2011 McLean Kids Performance Series. The show will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 7. Tickets are $12, $8 for McLean tax district residents. The theatre is located at 1234 Ingleside Ave.

Based on the traditional English folk story, this production of The Little Red Hen is a side-splittin', foot-stompin' country musical adventure. "Who will help me plant the seed?" asks the red hen as she begins to make her delicious bread. "Not us," answers all the animals. They are too busy to help. The hen's common sense combines with the tricks of the conniving fox to teach the sheep, the cow, the horse and the pig sound moral lessons on peer pressure, self esteem and character development. Book, music and lyrics are by Ford Flannagan. The show is recommended for children ages 4 and older.
