Photo Flash: Open For Business! PIE SHOP PLAY By Alice Pencavel Opens At The Paradise Factory

PIE SHOP PLAY opened with a splash on at the Paradise Factory on East 4th Street on Friday July 20th as part of the second annual Corkscrew Festival. The new play written by Alice Pencavel and directed by Sivan Battat is a maximalist theatrical event telling the story of two sisters, Agnes and Kitty, who find their big dreams derailed when disaster strikes their pie shop. 

When a pipe bursts, releasing toxic unknowns that flood the shop and rob the sisters of coherent speech. Agnes and Kitty are forced to contend with a past that still haunts and divides them. The waters continue rising, culminating in a dramatic stand-off played out through an original language of gibberish and jumbled English, PIE SHOP PLAY reveals the havoc that trauma brings down upon all who work in the name of pie.
