La Broadway League Foundation ha rivelato i 116 nomi dei candidati che viaggeranno a New York City per partecipare alla 17° cerimonia annuale dei Jimmy Awards e competere per i premi principali e numerose altre borse di studio. Il comico, attore, scrittore e conduttore di podcast candidato a cinque Emmy Bowen Yang presenterà la cerimonia che si svolgerà lunedì 22 giugno 2026, al Minskoff Theatre di Broadway.
I Jimmy Awards sono una vetrina nazionale di talenti che celebra gli studenti di teatro musicale delle scuole superiori provenienti da tutto il paese e presenta performance dinamiche di ensemble e solisti. Ogni programma regionale di premi assegna premi principali a due studenti performer locali e sponsorizza il loro viaggio a New York per partecipare ai Jimmy Awards il 22 giugno. Durante la cerimonia dei Jimmy Awards, una giuria assegnerà premi e borse di studio, incluso il premio per la Migliore Performance di un Attore e la Migliore Performance di un'Attrice.
I Jimmy Awards congratulano i destinatari del 2026 INSPIRING TEACHER AWARD, presentato da MJ, che onora gli educatori per aver fornito preziosa guida e incoraggiamento ai loro studenti e alle comunità scolastiche. I premiati sono stati nominati per questo riconoscimento la scorsa primavera dai candidati ai Jimmy Awards del 2025 e successivamente selezionati da una commissione di membri della Broadway League. I destinatari di quest’anno sono Kristy Kosko, Greece Arcadia High School (Stars of Tomorrow, Rochester, NY) e Peter Smeallie, Albert Einstein High School (Brandon Victor Dixon Awards, Washington, D.C.).
