Miles, a young Toronto actor, is sent to visit a rural Ontario home to research farm life. He soon discovers that not everything is as it seems at the quiet farm of Morgan and Angus. As Miles learns more about Angus and Morgan, their quiet life on the farm soon becomes threatened by a past that is too painful to remember, but is impossible to forget. Based on the landmark event that created the documentary play, The Farm Show. This play, which tells a touching story that is both moving and funny, was the recipient of the Governor General’s Award for Best Drama.

The Drawer Boy opens January 13th (the Opening Night Wine and Cheese Reception), and runs to January 28th.

Recommended for ages 12 and up.
*A wine and cheese reception will follow the opening night performance on January 13th.
Regular tickets: $22

Special Highlights During the Run:

A Special Invitation – January 13, 2016
You’re Invited to our Opening Night and Wine and Cheese Reception – Same Price as a Regular Ticket
Immediately following the performance, we invite you to come and mingle with your fellow Scarborough Players theatre-goers, and even with the cast and crew, at our complimentary Wine and Cheese Reception taking place immediately after the performance in the intermission room. The Wine and Cheese Reception is the perfect opportunity to meet the people who make it happen, and hear firsthand about being part of a theatre production. For the price of any of our regular shows, enjoy the elegance of a theatre reception, and share in the excitement of the Opening Night performance!

Audience Talk Back January 26th
If you can’t make the Opening Night Wine and Cheese reception, there’s another chance for you to connect with the cast. Our very popular Audience Talk-Back will be held after the Thursday, January 26th performance. If you’ve ever gone, you know how much fun it can be! After the play, we invite you to remain seated as the cast and crew return to the stage in an informal Question and Answer session. Do you have a question you’d love to ask but have never had the chance? This is your chance! Curious about the inner workings of live theatre, and would like to learn what happens “behind the scenes?” This is the performance for you. Of course, the price of this performance is the same price as all other performances, and attending the Audience Talk Back is free!

Special ACT-CO Adjudication Saturday, January 21st
We’re pleased to announce that The Drawer Boy has been chosen by Scarborough Players to be entered into the ACT-CO Festival which will culminate with the Gala and presentation of the THEA awards (it’s like the Academy Awards® of community theatre for Central Ontario). The January 21st performance will be attended by ACT-CO adjudicator, Trevor Smith Diggins, who will provide feedback to the performers immediately following the performance. We invite you to stay for the public adjudication. It’s always very interesting

Ages: Recommended for ages 12 and up.
