TOHO's stage adaptation of Studio Ghibli's Oscar-winning animated film marks its US premiere at the Ahmanson Theatre as part of its 2026–2028 world tour. The production is directed and co-adapted by John Caird, with set design by Jon Bausor, puppets by Toby Olié, choreography by Shigehiro Ide, and costumes by Sachiko Nakahara. The story follows Chihiro, who stumbles into a world of fantastic spirits ruled by the sorceress Yubaba and must use her wits to free her parents and return home. The production won Best New Play at the 2025 WhatsOnStage Awards and received four Olivier Award nominations.
