Written by Peter Shaffer and directed by Shaw Festival artistic director Tim Carroll, Amadeus is a historical drama set in 1780s Vienna where composer Antonio Salieri, played by Tom Rooney, finds his brilliant career threatened by the arrival of the gifted Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, played by Michael Therriault. Enraged by Mozart's God-given genius, Salieri sets out to sabotage Mozart's career and destroy his marriage to Constanze, played by Kristi Frank. The production also features Graeme Somerville as Emperor Joseph, alongside an ensemble including Andrew Broderick, Julia Course, Cosette Derome, Allison Edwards-Crewe, Sochi Fried, Allan Louis, David Andrew Reid, and Savion Roach. Set and costume design is by Judith Bowden, with lighting by Kevin Lamotte and music supervision by Paul Sportelli.
