To Kill A Mockingbird, adapted by Christopher Sergel from the novel by Harper Lee, a classic of modern American literature, comes to the City Theatre stage.

To Kill a Mockingbird will open March 1st and run through the 17th. Guest Director Erica Sutherlin brings a fresh, candid and gripping approach to the play adapted from the Pulitzer Prize winning novel and Oscar winning movie.

The City Theatre production is a rich tapestry that frankly addresses the issues of race and rape in depression era Alabama. It explores social injustice and the destruction of innocence, yet it does so with warmth, compassion and humor and gives the viewer one of the most enduring fictional images of racial heroism, Atticus Finch. Seen through the eyes of Finch's 10 year old daughter Scout this play will move you, and inspire you. Its themes are a cry for tolerance and a cry for justice that are as relevant now as they were when the book was published in 1960.

The production plays March 1-17, 2013 with shows on Friday and Saturday at 8:00PM and Sunday Matinees at 2:00PM.
