AN ORCHARD FOR CHEKHOV by Brazilian playwright Pedro Brício, translated from Portuguese by Stephen K. Smith. Directed by Philip Boehm. Moving between comedy, lyricism, and drama, Brício’s play blurs the boundaries between reality and fiction, comedy and drama, past and present, Brazil and Russia, in a plot that addresses contemporary issues such as intolerance, machismo, and urban violence.
