We find ourselves immersed in the War of Independence and Spain has been taken over by Napoleon’s troops. There only remains one free haven: the bay of Cadiz. On 19th March 1812, St. Joseph’s Day, the first Spanish Constitution, which will later become known as “La Pepa”, is enacted there. Today, two hundred years later, the great artist and flamenco dancer from Cadiz, Sara Baras, offers us a flamenco drama based on that historic moment: the horror of the war, the beauty of her land, hope, happiness, the will to live and the yearning for freedom.
In addition to a marvellous artistic cast, we must highlight the richness of the choreography, the musical grandeur and a special stage design, which, along with an exquisite wardrobe, helps to take us back to that remarkable period.
