Cape Town Opera presents a new production of Georges Bizet's Carmen at the Artscape Opera House, running from 19 to 31 May 2026. Directed by Steven Stead and set in 1931/32 Seville, the production features CTO House Soloist Nonhlanhla Yende in the title role, with tenor Lukhanyo Moyake as Don José, Vuvu Mpofu as Micaëla, and baritone Conroy Scott as Escamillo. The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, CTO Vocal Ensemble, and CTO Children's Chorus perform under conductor Tim Murray. The production runs for six performances only.
