Based on the famous novel by Roald Dahl, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory features an original score composed by Marc Shaiman with lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray) and a book by David Greig. The score also pays homage to the Leslie Bricusse/Anthony Newley score from the 1971 film with songs from the motion picture including "Candy Man," "I've Got a Golden Ticket," "Oompa Loompa Song," and "Pure Imagination."
The world-famous Willy Wonka is opening the gates to his mysterious factory…but only to a lucky few. Young Charlie Bucket and four other golden ticket winners will embark on a life-changing journey through Wonka’s world of pure imagination including chocolate waterfalls, nutty squirrels and the great glass elevator, all to be revealed by Wonka's army of curious Oompa-Loompas.

March 07, 2022The touring production of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and The Chocolate Factory seems an unlikely place to find inspiration in reconciling the events of the world’s political stage, but when viewed in the context of the current sociopolitical climate, it seems possible. The lyrics of the song “Pure Imagination” appear to map out the catalyst for social change. “If you want to view paradise, simply look around and view it. Anything you want to, do it. Want to change the world? There’s nothing to it.” The simplicity of that philosophy in song was written over the course of a phone conversation between the composers Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley over 50 years ago.

July 25, 2021The Series opens in September 2021 with three performances of ESCAPE TO MARGARITAVILLE, four shows of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF in February 2022, CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY and HAIRSPRAY will take stage in March 2022, COME FROM AWAY offers eight performances in May 2022 and three productions of ANASTASIA in June 2022 rounds out the Series.
